I'm home in Heaven, dear ones; Oh, so happy and so bright! There is perfect joy and beauty in this everlasting light. All the pain and grief is over, every restless tossing passed. I am now at peace forever, safely home in Heaven at last!

On August 28, 1960, in Magee hospital the late Katherine (Kitty) and Alvin (Al) Chatman Sr. became the proud parents of Alvin (Dunie) Chatman Jr. while living on Chauncey drive, in the Hill district. The family lived there for 11 years and then moved on to a newly built home on 3737 Orpwood street in Oakland. While living in Oakland Alvin also known as Al (Dunie) was a part of the Frazier Street crew a group of Guys who are still friends to this day. AKA "Da Bums"

Alvin (Dunie) attended Schenley High school, as a Spartan lettered in baseball, and recently he accepted the honor of being inducted into the Pittsburgh All City Sports Hall of fame for baseball.

After graduating high School Al (Dunie) went to work for Children's hospital while pursuing a career as a Physicians Asst. In 1982, he met Jacqui Outlaw, and four years later, in 1986, they were married. The following year, in 1987, their daughter, Racquel Diandra Chatman, was born.Al (Dunie) pursued another career in the culinary arts firstly as a cook on a Cruise ship station in Honolulu Hawaii and secondly as a private Chef for the late Pittsburgh Steeler Ray Seals.

In 1991 Al (Dunie) met Holly Cavanaugh and had two more children a son Jordan Larome Chatman and daughter Miranda Leigh Chatman, Miranda blessed him with two grandsons; David solomon Trent III (4yrs); Nasir (Nas) William Trent (2yrs) and a granddaughter Kori lynn-marie Trent (2 months). Recently, while expressing love to his son, Al jokingly said, "But you look like a vampire."

Al (Dunie) is loved by many in his family some of which preceded him in death, his Mother Katherine (Kitty) Chatman and Father Alvin (Al) Chatman Sr., sister Denise (Nisey) McClendon and her daughter Bertha (Tricey) Latrice Green.

He leaves behind his sister Sharon (Pebbles) Elizabeth Chatman; brother Tyrone (Tykie) Chatman (married to Willadene Chatman deceased); sister Carol (Lynnie) Lynn Chatman-Kern (married to Robert (Bob) Kern; brother Vernon (Vern) Nathanial Chatman (married to Isis Chatman); nieces Adrienne, Corrina and Larea ; nephews Kevin, Terrance, Imani and Tyreque, great nieces Camille, Naila, Arianna and Lavia; great nephews Josh and Levy; great great niece Latrice (munchkin). And a host of other Relatives; Cousins and Friends.

Al (Dunie) loved the Lord and this love changed him. He was enrolled in the Greater Works Outreach Bible School to minister the Gospel. He wanted everyone to know of the Lord's power and saving grace. Pancreatic Cancer did not have the last word as Al (Dunie) understood and believed 1Cor 15: 50-58:

50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.

51 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,

52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.

54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.

55 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?

56 The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.

57 But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.
