Alvin Rogers Featherston affectionately known as “Slim” was born December 18, 1939, to the late George Featherston and Pauline Fitzpatrick Featherston in Nashville, TN. He transitioned on Sunday, January 12, 2025.

 Alvin received his education from Metro Nashville, Davidson County School attending Pearl High. 

 Alvin enlisted in the United States Army in 1957 under the buddy program where he served as a MP. He played basketball in the United States Army. Alvin served in the United States Army four (4) years before being honorable discharged in 1963.

Alvin married Sylvia Featherston, June 17, 2006, they shared 19 years of marriage until his passing.  Alvin became a barber following his discharge from the United States Army. After barbering he was self-employed. Alvin was a faithful member at Payne Chapel African Methodist Episcopal. He served on the Usher Board until his health declined. Anything that was needed Alvin could be counted on.

Alvin loved basketball, riding his motorcycle until the age of 80 when his health declined. Alvin loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Alvin enjoyed picking up and dropping off his granddaughter MaKayla from school on time, being the first in the pickup line every day. He loved his mother’s cooking and would go to his mother’s house every morning for breakfast until her passing. Alvin loved playing spades and was the master of spades. Alvin loved DJ’ing and was a DJ at Low Riders Motorcycle Club known as “Sagittarius Slim” for many years. 

 Alvin famous response to I love you was, “I LOVE YOU MORE”.

 Alvin was an original member of the Road Runners Motorcycle Club and served as the Road Caption until retirement. 

Alvin proceeds in death by his Father, George Featherston Sr.; Mother, Pauline Fitzpatrick Featherston; sons, Todd Featherston, Alvin Featherston Jr., DeShawn Howse; daughter, Brandi Britton;  brother, Paul Featherston; sister, Beverly Featherston Polee and grandso, Isaac Brown.

Alvin leaves to cherish his memory loving wife, Sylvia Featherston. Children, Terence (Cheryl) Hailey Sr., Alvin (Diane) Witherspoon, Michael Woodard, Kevin Featherston, Ronnie Featherston, Julius (Kesia) Ditto, April (Zay) Payton-Maxwell, LaBraunya (Chris) Horton, Nicole Fuqua, Chessika Dupree and Tiara Dupree. Siblings, Carolyn Featherston-Dunn, Lavonda Featherston-Howse, Charles (Pauletta) Featherston, James Fitzpatrick; sister-in-law, Lillie (Melvin) Hambrick, Vanessa Young, Elisa (Marcus) Hodge, Virginia Manning, Carrie Manning and Betina Fuqua; brother-in-law, Paul Fuqua and Herbert Fuqua; devoted (Ride or Die) granddaughter, MaKayla Perry; devoted niece, Yolanda Coleman. nieces, Kimberlinth Gaines, Paula Harrison, Tyronda Featherston-Martin, Regina Clemons, Xica Featherston and Cherica Williamson. Nephews, Darryel Hailey, Michael Featherston, Charleston Featherston, Lance Featherston and Michael Anthony; goddaughters, Vshon Watkins-Hicks and Mitesa Hawkins; devoted friends, Carloyn Armstrong, Mary Campbell, Denise Gordon, Al Washington and James Gooch. A host of grand-children, great nieces, great nephews and cousins.
