A Life Well Lived: A Man Much Loved
Alvin Keith Johnson, son of Lonnie and Rosie Johnson, was born on February 1, 1954, in Jacksonville, Florida, and went home to be with the Lord on February 2, 2022, after a long, valiant battle with prostate cancer.
Proverbs 27:19 states, "As water reflects the face, so one's life reflects the heart." Alvin's life reflected a heart that loved his family deeply, a heart that was loyal to his friends, and a heart that treasured God.
Alvin valued his relationships. His love for his wife was genuine and sincere, making their union a true love story. He approached fatherhood with the same loving and nurturing devotion making him the ultimate "girl dad". He shared countless moments of laughter with his family and friends and demonstrated his love for God through faithful Christian service and witness. Simply put, Alvin created a life filled with unbreakable bonds, countless smiles, and joy-filled adventures.
As a small child, Alvin (known as Keith by his family and friends) moved from Florida to Delaware with his family and excelled academically and athletically. He was a valuable member of Milford High School's track and football team (number 21, his birthday). His love for sports and outdoor activities extended into his adult life as he became an avid golfer, tennis player, biker, fisherman, and a long-suffering Philadelphia Eagles fan. After graduating from high school, Alvin continued his studies at the University of Delaware, Springfield College (BS), and Wilmington University (MBA).
In 1973, Alvin married Marsha Watson, his high school sweetheart. Together, they experienced countless memorable experiences centered around their love for each other and their two adorable daughters, Lisa and Lauren. Alvin's adventurous nature grew into a love for travel with Marsha and the girls. His favorite trips were to Africa and Asia, and escaping winter's chills in Spain, Ecuador, and Portugal.
Alvin had a successful career in facilities management at St. Francis Hospital and the State of Delaware. In 2006, he relocated to India with his wife, where he assumed a position in operations management at the International School in New Deli. Their years in India were some of their most exciting times together.
Alvin was a man of many talents; not only was he athletic, but he loved cooking, painting, photography, singing, and rarely encountered a fix-it project he could not do. At Simpson United Methodist Church, he volunteered his talents while serving as a trustee and member of the Chancel Choir.
For Alvin, anything worth doing warranted close attention to detail. He had a low tolerance for ridiculousness, yet he was always very personable and a great communicator. His ability to easily connect with and teach people through colorful examples and vivid storytelling earned him a reputation as an incredible mentor, advisor, and life coach.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Robert and Willie; and sister, Martha Smith.
Alvin leaves to cherish fond memories, his beloved wife, Marsha Johnson; daughters, Lisa Johnson of Wilmington, Delaware and Lauren Johnson of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; brothers, Lonnie Johnson (Valerie) of Jacksonville, Florida, Sylvester Johnson (Charletta) of Bear, Delaware, and Donald Johnson of Atlanta, Georgia; sisters, Penny Smith (Jimmy) of Mt. Royal, New Jersey, Cornelia Johnson-Davis (LaPointe) of Middletown, Delaware, Lonzenia Fenton of Sterling, Virginia, and Rosie Johnson of Dover, Delaware; godsons, Darien Johnson, Erique Gumbs, and Christopher Hopkins; nieces; nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
James 1:12 tells us, "Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him."
Lovingly submitted,
The Family

So sorry for your loss. Al was a good and decent person to work for. One of many things I will never forget is his expression to me: "Handle your Business Bill". He will be missed but Never forgotten. Billy Encarnacion

I am so sorry for your loss. Al was a great man. I´ll never forget him watching my boys so I could take care of an emergency at CSD. He also played with them while I did some work at his house. He will be missed. Rest In Peace!
