Lawondale Parker, a loving and thoughtful woman whose warmth touched countless lives, departed this life
peacefully on August 15, 2025, at the age of 83. Born on November 3, 1941, to Lawyer Judge Bellamy and
Daisy White in Florence, SC. Lawondale graduated from Howard High School in 1959. Lawondale graduated
from Wilmington Hospital School of Nursing in 1962.
Lawondale married in 1962 to former husband the late Francis W. (Bunky) Parker Jr., out of that union she
gave birth to 3 sons Francis (Tony) Parker III (deceased), Alan R. Parker (Deceased) and Robert W. Parker.
Lawondale was a retired Registered nurse who worked at Wilmington General from 1963 to 1968; Visiting
Nursing Association 1968 to 1972; HJWMC, formerly known as South Bridge Medical Center (SMAC) from
1972 to 2003. Lawondale proudly served on the Board of United Neighborhood for Progress, Neighborhood
House and Henrietta Johnson Medical Center (HJWMC). Lawondale sang in the choir at YMCA for 3 years,
she was a member of the Cast and Choir of Black Theatre Ensemble in the late 70's and early 80's. Lawondale
served as a volunteer for Christiana Care Blood Pressure Screen Ambassador. Lawondale, a natural mentor,
found great joy in guiding young people as a volunteer with Big Brothers Big Sisters of America (Janice
Anthony and Erica Ennis).
Lawondale had a vibrant love for fashion, embracing every shade and silhouette with glee. She was featured in
a Wilmington News Journal article on October 1, 2016, for her sense of fashion.

Lawondale dedicated her life to caring for others as a registered nurse, exemplifying her natural gift for serving
people. Lawondale's nursing career spanned many decades, during which she served with unwavering compassion
and dedication. She was known for her kindness, her keen clinical skills, and her ability to bring comfort and hope
to patients and their families. Many nurses also benefited from her wisdom and experience, as she then took on the
role of mentor and preceptor. Her commitment to her profession and the well-being of her patients left a lasting
impression on everyone she encountered. Beyond her professional life, Lawondale was cherished by her family
and friends. Lawondale's testament to grace and perseverance.
Lawondale is predeceased by one brother, Lawyer J. Bellamy, Jr. (Sunny); adoptive parents, Robert C.
Doleman and Vernell Vite Doleman; and sons, Frances (Tony) Parker III and Alan R. Parker.
She will be deeply missed by her beloved son Robert Parker (Sonya) York, PA, adoptive brother Leland
Church (Monique); step-children of her previous marriage: Myra Demby (Stanford), LeMiena Broady
(Rosell), Jerry Thompson (Dionne), Pamela Barrett , Dahlmetria Stinson,Sammy Jones (Francine); nieces
and nephews :Renee Bellamy-Coletrain (Marion), Pamela Bellamy also known as Sakina O'Uhuru
(Gregory), Leonardo Bellamy (Shana) , Rashad Bellamy, RaShawn Bellamy, Ivan Edwards (Donna), Ivy
Edwards; Cousins Rudolph "Junior" Bellamy (Lillian), Frank (Skippy) White (Adrienne), Michael White
(Anita), Arnise Murray (Tommy), Edward Pegues Jr, (Fran) . (Play daughters) Janice Anthony, Trudy
Small (Gregory), Yatima (Kwang) Burton (Rodney), Paulette Snipes (Sidney), Michelle Nard, and Iris
Gibbs. (Play sons): Andre Briscoe (Jeanie), Sean Briscoe (Yvonne), Ricardo Hill (Saudia), and Alvin
Hannon (Angela). Long time friends and neighbors The Medleys, The Browns, The Campbells, The
Calhums, The Gladneys and The Gibbs. Close friends: Vera Gladney, Bobby Graham (Adele), Marion
Wright (Mary); "The Golden Girls": Geraldine Cochran, Kathleen Cephas, Jerrieann Wilson, and Marie
Dash. Special friend Russell E. Turner, and many, many loving friends and relatives. Those who knew her
will forever remember her loving spirit, thoughtful gestures, and joyful presence. Lawondale found joy in
singing, cooking. traveling, reading, and spending time with her family. She cultivated a life filled with
meaning and purpose, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering support.
A memorial service to celebrate Lawondale's life will be held on September 3, 2025, at Hanover Presbyterian
Church, Wilmington, DE. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Adopt a Boxer
Rescue, Olphant, PA, Lawondale's favorite dog breed and an organization that was close to Lawondale's
heart. Though she is no longer with us in body, her spirit will live on in the lives she shaped and the lessons
she imparted.
