Alvin M. Reffitt Jr., 65, of Point Pleasant Boro, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 1, 2022, at home surrounded by his loving family and friends. Alvin was born and raised in Lakewood, NJ. He attended Marie H. Katzenbach School for the Deaf, West Trenton, NJ. Alvin graduated from Rochester Institute of Technology. He began his career as an intern at Lakehurst Naval Base, which became a 44-year career as an accountant at the naval base. Alvin was a member of the Point Pleasant Elks, a huge NASCAR fan, avid Oakland Raider fan, and playing softball with his work and several leagues. Alvin also enjoyed fishing, hanging out by his pool, and being with his constant companions, Bug and Luna, his cats.
Alvin was predeceased by his father Alvin Mason Reffitt, Sr., his stepfather Daniel Streaser, his two brothers Richard and Robert Reffitt, and will be reunited with his cat Trouble. He is survived by his beloved wife MaryBeth (nee Young) Reffitt, his cherished daughter Claire Reffitt both of Point Pleasant Boro, and his loving mother Emma Streaser of Point Pleasant Beach. Alvin also leaves behind two sisters Lisa Fichter, and Cindy Cornetto; a nephew Zach Fichter and Zach's father Larry. Also his nieces and nephews Jennifer Ehlers, and Joseph, Brian, Kelly, Christopher, and Daniel Cornetto. He is also survived by a sister-in-law Ellen Young, and a brother-in-law and his wife Bill Young and Lori Carlsen, as well as many other relatives and dear friends.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Thursday, May 5, 2022, from 12-3 pm at Orender Family Home for Funerals, 2643 Old Bridge Road, Manasquan, NJ 08736. A Celebration of Life service will begin at 2:30 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Point Boro First Aid or SAVE Rescue Center in Toms River.
