Alvin Word, III, age 77, of Cleveland, TN passed away peacefully on November 27, 2023.
Originally from Mississippi, he leaves behind his wife Melissa (married 50 years), his three children and their spouses: Alvin, IV (Susanna), Brian (Leslie), and Amanda (Ben). He also leaves ten grandchildren: Hannah and Armon Word; TD Robinson, Jayden, Tyson, Carson, and Emmie Word; Bowen, Everett, and Kyla Stroud. He will be greatly missed by his sisters and brothers-in-law: Lynda and Gary Smith, Janet and Gary Richardson, along with many nieces and nephews.
Although Alvin was a very educated man with many degrees, most know him for his Kingdom-mindedness and service to others. Always one to prefer giving a hand up rather than a hand out, Alvin Word, III was a true champion of the underdog, a long shot, and a righteous cause.
Receiving of friends will be Saturday, December 9, 2023 from 11a-1p at Grace Community Church in Cleveland, TN. A Celebration of his Life will follow visitation at 1p.
