Lord & Stephens Funeral Home - EastAmalia Perry, 82, of Athens, passed away October 27, 2025. Born in Tel Aviv, Israel, she earned a degree in linguistics and later moved to the United States for love. She worked in the University of Georgia Library cataloguing music and later taught Hebrew to students of all ages.
A self-identified weaver and active member of several fibercraft guilds, Amalia was also a proud member of the Jewish community, admired for her artistry, her honesty, and her ability to weave both yarn and conversation into something memorable.
She is survived by her husband, Jonathan Perry; her sons and daughters-in-law, Amir and Dina Gilboa, Daniel and Mallory Perahya, and Jordan Perry; and her beloved grandchildren, Alexana and Logan.
A memorial service will be held at Congregation Children of Israel on Sunday, November 9, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the heart or cancer association, or your charity of choice.
