Amanda Aughenbaugh Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lauck & Veldhof Funeral and Cremation Services on Dec. 14, 2025.
Amanda Marie Aughenbaugh, 37, of Indianapolis, passed away on Sunday, December 7, 2025, from complications of surgery. She was born on October 12, 1988, in Indianapolis, the beloved daughter of Mary (Doyle) Aughenbaugh and Daniel Mark Lawrence.

A proud graduate of Warren Central High School, Class of 2007, Amanda's early years were filled with curiosity, laughter, and a deep love for the people around her. She enjoyed the thrill of haunted houses and spent eight years working at Haunted Angelus alongside her mother-a place where her playful spirit and warm personality shined. She later drove a school bus for Lambert First Student for three years and most recently worked at Dunkin' Donuts on E. 10th Street in Linwood Square, where she was known for her kindness and bright smile.

Amanda loved singing karaoke, especially with her mother, Mary. Music brought her joy, and those who heard her sing could feel the happiness she carried in her heart. She also enjoyed video games, shopping, and spending time with friends. Her generosity was unmatched-she was the kind of person who would give you the shirt off her back. When someone needed help, she was always the first to arrive and the last to leave. She was truly loved by all who knew her.

Amanda shared an especially deep and devoted bond with her mother. After Mary suffered a stroke, Amanda stepped into a caregiving role with unwavering love, patience, and tenderness. Their mother–daughter relationship was a source of strength for them both, and Amanda cared for her with a level of devotion that reflected her extraordinary heart.

Amanda also adored her animals. She cherished her beloved cats Tigger and Smokey, as well as the shared family cats Binx, Mishka, and Storm, who brought her comfort, companionship, and joy. She also shared two beloved dogs, Loki and Thor, whose loyalty and playful spirits were a constant source of happiness in her life.

She is survived by her loving mother, Mary Aughenbaugh; her significant other of 22 years, Roy Neace; her sister, Kelly Aughenbaugh; half-siblings, Amy, Adrian, and Josh Lawrence; step-brother, Eric Mock; adopted sister, Keke Nix; surrogate mother, Michelle Nix; and her cherished god-children, Tori, Phoenix, Jashawn, Carson, Lily, and Ocean. She was preceded in death by her father, Daniel Mark Lawrence; her maternal grandparents, Ralph E. and Zerah P. (Pratt) Doyle; and her stepmother, Cheryl Lynn Mock.

Family and friends will gather on Saturday, December 20, from 9 to 11 a.m. at Lauck & Veldhof Funeral & Cremation Services, 1458 S. Meridian St., Indianapolis. The service will include a special eulogy by her brother, Eric Mock, Native American songs that held meaning for Amanda, and a time of sharing for all who wish to honor her memory. Burial will follow at Concordia Cemetery.

It was a pleasure to work alongside Amanda during our fun haunted house days! She indeed was a very charming and joyful individual. It saddens my heart to see such vibrant and loving people leave this earth so soon, but prayerfully we can trust that God always has a plan, one we as humans will always be in wonder of.
I'm praying for peace, understanding, and for many cherished memories for the family and all of those who will miss having Amanda's presence near them.
