Donohue Funeral Home - DowningtownJohn Roger Aughenbaugh, 82, of Liverpool PA, formerly West Chester, PA, passed away February 17, 2026.
Born November 17, 1943 in Carlisle, PA, he was a son of the late Leander and Viola (nee Smith) Aughenbaugh.
Roger was the beloved husband of the late Linda (nee Henschke) Aughenbaugh; loving father of Lynn Aughenbaugh Baker (Jon) and John Aughenbaugh (Dori); adoring grandfather of Jordan and Kira Aughenbaugh, Barrett, Emerson, Lindan and Anna Baker; dear brother of Corrin Aughenbaugh, brother-in-law Herb Henschke (Margaret) and sister-in-law Millie Aughenbaugh. He was also preceded in death by his spouses Norma and Bonnie, siblings James and Lois, and sister-in-law Shirley Aughenbaugh.
Roger graduated from Perry Joint High School in 1961. In 1965, Roger received his Bachelor's degree from West Chester University followed by a Master’s degree in Geography. Roger began teaching at Henderson High School in West Chester, PA, and spent most of his teaching career at Downingtown High School where he retired. In addition, Roger started Easy Way Driving School in 1976 and did this for 34 years.
While in high school Roger participated in football, basketball, baseball, the junior play, was an officer and involved in the magazine campaign. During his time in college he played football and was inducted into the West Chester University’s Hall of Fame.
In his free time Roger loved being with his family and friends. He also enjoyed traveling to all 50 states, vacationing, coaching, horseback riding, fishing, golfing and hunting throughout his life. Roger also attended the following churches: Mt. Gilead United Methodist Church, Salem United Brethren, Grove United Methodist Church and Pfoutz Valley United Methodist Church.
Relatives and friends are invited to his Visitation 9:00 am to 10:00 am on Saturday March 7, 2026 at Grove United Methodist Church, 490 Boot Rd, West Chester, PA 19380, followed by his Service. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association in dedication to Roger Aughenbaugh.
