Amanda Jane Bradsher was born to the parents of Cleo Beard and Lucy Ola Holloway Beard. She was the 6th child born of 12 children. There were four boys and one sister before she was born.
Amanda went to grade school at Person County and graduated from Person County High School. In her yearbook, she signed her picture "Miss Miller Hip Cat".
Amanda married Frank Bradsher on February 25, 1956, and they had three children: Elaine Bradsher (deceased), Beverly Bradsher, and Rodney Bradsher (deceased). Amanda and Frank were married until his passing in 1978.
Amanda graduated from Community College of Baltimore in 1983 with a degree in Gerontology. She worked as a Geriatric Aide for most of her adult life and retired from that position.
One of Amanda's favorite joys was reading the Bible, since she had done since age seven and she enjoyed Bible Study at her church. As a child she was baptized at Cedary Grove Baptist Church in Roxboro, NC. She always insisted that no matter where you live, you can find a church home. When she moved to Baltimore, her church home was Zion Baptist Church.
She later moved to Dayton, OH to be near her daughter, Beverly and attended church at Grace Brethren Facility. When she moved to Delaware, she went back to focusing on her Bible study as her place of residence was Catholic.
In later years she enjoyed watching the I Channels and Matlock was her favorite. She enjoyed being photographed and was very animated during picture taking. She also loved planting and was very successful planting in the city of Baltimore where she resided for 50 years.
She leaves to mourn her daughter, Beverly Bradsher (Delaware), three sisters; Doris McCoy, Ola Wall, and Linda McCoy, and grandchildren; Micah Green and Marsena Vashti Green.
A graveside service will begin at 11 am on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, in King Memorial Park, 8710 Dogwood Road, Baltimore, MD.
