Amanda Capps

Amanda Jean Capps, age 47, of Saint Charles, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly on June 23, 2025 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center.

She was born on August 2, 1977, to Laura (Larson) Hunter and William Powell. She graduated with an associate’s degree from Vatterott College and worked as an Associate in the Winterset Community School District. Amanda enjoyed working with the students and found joy in helping them through school. On May 24, 2008, Amanda married Scott Capps at the Cedar Bridge in Winterset.

Outside of her work, Amanda found joy in the outdoors. She loved camping, kayaking, and spending quality time with her family and friends. Whether on an adventure or gathered around a fire, Amanda’s laughter and light-hearted spirit were always present.

Amanda is survived by her husband, Scott Capps; her two sons, Austin and Spencer Capps; and her mother, Laura Hunter. She was preceded in death by her father, William Powell.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 29, 2025, at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home – Winterset Chapel. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family for a future designation. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.caldwellparrish.com.
