Big Stone Gap, VA – Amanda Alison Coots, 39, passed away on Monday, August 11, 2025 at Norton Community Hospital, Norton, VA. Born and raised in Norton, VA. She was graduated from J.I. Burton High School and was a class of 2007 graduate of Mountain Empire Community College. Amanda was a loving mother to two special sons. Her boys were her life and she was devoted to them. She was a Christian.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Randall and Connie Fields VanWinkle.
Amanda is survived by her children, Aiden Coffey and Connor Coffey, both of Norton, VA; brother, Brian VanWinkle (Susan Ayers) of Norton, VA; aunts, Norma Bennett (Cecil), Trena Greear (Emmett) and Betty Fields Mullins, who was an aunt that raised Amanda like a mother; father of her children, Billy Coffey (Sarah) and their two children, Colton and Hudson, and her former husband, Fred Coots.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 14, 2025 from 11:00am - 1:00pm at Gilliam Funeral Home, 618 Wood Ave. W., Big Stone Gap, VA.
