SWEDORSKI, Amanda L. – of Eaton Rapids, formerly of Mt. Morris, age 42, died at home following a brief battle with metastatic melanoma on Saturday, April 29, 2023, with family by her side. Funeral services will be held at 4:30PM Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at the O'Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. Pastor Dorla Talaga officiating. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Wednesday from 11AM until the time of service at 4:30PM. Cremation will follow. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.
Amanda was born September 25, 1980, in Flint, Michigan, to Arthur and Annette (Mortiere) Walker. She graduated from E.A. Johnson High School with the class of 1999. Amanda later earned her bachelor's degree in biology from The University of Michigan – Flint. She met the love of her life, Josh Gilbert, at Bay City State Park and they enjoyed over 7 years together. Amanda worked for the Department of Natural Resources for over 15 years, first with the Parks and Recreation Division as a state worker and later as a park ranger, and most recently as an emergency dispatcher with the Law Enforcement Division for the past four years. She enjoyed gardening, puzzles, reading, needlework, sewing, and crafting. Amanda also enjoyed playing any video game involving Nintendo's Mario. She loved cats - especially her two furry companions, Rex and Asajj, and took a special interest in caring for the strays. Amanda was very loving, caring, generous and selfless. She had a strong personality that came with a wonderful, quirky, and witty sense of humor, making jokes until the end.
Amanda is survived by her loving companion, Josh Gilbert; her mother and stepfather, Annette and Tony Nichols; identical twin sister, Amie and Matt Kiner; nephews Kenneth Walker, Andrew Kiner, and Derek Kiner; and grandmother, Barbara Mortiere. Amanda was preceded in death by her father, Arthur Walker, and grandfather, Bruno Mortiere. Please sign our guestbook or share an online condolence with the family at www.oguinnfh.com.
