It is with broken and heavy hearts that we share the passing of an amazing woman, Amanda Renae Wiley (Stinnett). Amanda passed away suddenly on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, with her family and friends by her side. No words can express the loss we feel and the light she brought to this world, but we have a few short paragraphs in which to try.
Amanda was born in Flint, Michigan, on April 8, 1983, to proud parents Jerry and Yvonne Stinnett. She was the oldest of 3 siblings and was followed shortly after by her brother Zeke (aka Pauly Wally Doodle all the day - sorry Zeke ) and her sister, Megan. Amanda took on her role as the oldest with gusto, and even though she tormented her siblings, she loved and cared for them with no boundaries.
On her 21st birthday, Amanda received the first of 8 amazing gifts in her life when she gave birth to her first child, Deora Frances Bodley Tunnell, on April 8, 2004. Amanda wanted to give her child a special name with meaning, so she named her after the youngest passenger on Flight 93 from the September 11th attacks. She shared a birthday with the young girl (who wasn't even supposed to be on that flight since she was scheduled to fly later in the day), and she felt a strong connection to her story. When her daughter was born on the same day, April 8th, her decision was made.
A few years later, during her marriage to Craig Huff, she was blessed with a son, Grant Christopher Devon Huff. A couple of years later, she brought her third child, Carly Ralaine Eklund, into the world.
Amanda worked hard to support her children, and she found her calling as a successful card dealer at the Caribbean Casino, where she worked for 7 years. Her customers and co-workers adored her, and she enjoyed the job immensely. It was there where she first met James Dale Wiley, the man who would become the love of her life. They were married on August 15, 2015, and together, they had 5 children: Claira Kay Wiley, Ginger Nicole Wiley, Scarlette Jade Wiley, Andie Yvonne Wiley, and Casey James Wiley.
Amanda left her job at the casino to be a full-time mother to her children, and she juggled the challenges of motherhood like a pro. As much as we love and miss Amanda, her children will feel her loss the most, and it will take the entire team of her family and friends to accomplish even half of what she did on a daily basis. Her husband and children were her entire world, and she always made sure that world was a safe, loving, happy, enriching one.
Even though she ran in circles taking care of her houseful of munchkins, she still always made time for her family and friends, and she would drop everything at a moment's notice to run to a loved-one's rescue. Those of us she left behind do not know what we'll do without her, but we do know one thing: we will honor her daily by making sure her children never forget the beautiful, amazing person she was. We'll take them camping and fishing, we'll go on rock-hunting adventures, and we'll sit around campfires and winter bonfires drinking gallons of Mountain Dew in her memory.
Amanda was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Beverly and Leonard Tunnell, and her paternal grandparents, Lois and Andrew (Jack) Stinnett. She is survived by her parents, Jerry and Yvonne Stinnett; her siblings, Ezekiel Paul Stinnett and Megan Stinnett; her husband, James Wiley; her children, Deora, Grant, Carly, Claira, Ginger, Scarlette, Andie, and newborn baby Casey; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind a large group of friends that she valued and who valued her as family. All of our hearts ache for you, Amanda, and we hope you'll be waiting for us on the other side with your beautiful smile and a drink in your hand, ready to share a laugh with us and tell us about all the rocks you've managed to find in heaven.
Viewing is Wednesday, August 28th from 5:00 to 8:00pm at Brookside Funeral Home.
Amanda's Celebration of Life will be held at Brookside Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 4th at 4 pm. Please bring your favorite memories and stories, and PLEASE DO NOT WEAR BLACK. The Celebration will continue at Wildfire Pizza on Ahtanum Road starting at 6:30 pm.
