A Legacy Remembered: Amare Ernst Witham
Amare Ernst Witham was born on August 2, 2007, and departed from this earth on July 2, 2024. He was a source of inspiration and resilience to all who knew him, leaving behind a legacy that will be remembered forever.
Amare was the beloved son of Monica Witham and the late Brett Lashawn Warren, and a cherished brother to Malakai. He was a treasured grandson to Denise Moll, Margaret Tompkins Warren, Kewin Warren, and Deanna Lewis. Mansa Olujimi (Nathaniel Duke) also played a significant role in raising Amare. He is preceded in death by his Papa Bill, his Gommy, and his father, Brett Lashawn Warren.
A dedicated athlete, Amare had an unwavering passion for basketball. His talent on the court was matched only by his commitment and love for the game. He played with heart, earning the respect and admiration of his teammates and coaches at Glendale High School and on his competition teams. Amare's jersey number, 3, will forever symbolize his spirit and dedication. He was truly special, "Forever 3."
Beyond basketball, Amare was known for his deep love and loyalty to his family and friends. His smile could light up any room, and he was always there to lend encouragement or a listening ear, embodying the true meaning of brotherhood. His family and friends will remember him as "1 of 1" – unique and irreplaceable.
Amare is survived by his mother, Monica, brother, Malakai, grandparents, Denise, Kewin, and Deanna, Mansa Olujimi (Nathaniel Duke), Carlos Warren, numerous siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of teammates and friends who will forever hold his memory close.
A celebration of Amare's life will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at Second Baptist Church in Springfield, MO beginning at 3:00 p.m. Friends and family are invited to attend and share their memories and love for Amare.
Though he is no longer with us in body, Amare's spirit, and the impact he made on our lives will never fade. He will be deeply missed, but his legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched.
Rest in Heaven, Amare. You will always be "Forever 3" and "1 of 1."
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to an educational fund for Amare's little brother Malakai.
Care has been entrusted to Walnut Lawn Funeral Home DeGraffenreid-Wood Crematory.
