Amelia Buran

Amelia Buran, 95, of Endicott, NY, passed away peacefully on January 22, 2025.
She lived life to the fullest. Amelia was predeceased by her father Joseph Buran and mother Pauline Siska; brothers Joseph Buran Jr. (Helen), Frank (Bunzo) Buran (Leda), Milton (Milo) Buran (Alice), Michael Buran; sister Mary Buran (Matt); niece Sandy Mosso; and nephews Bill (Zach) Buran and Steven Krupski.
She is survived by many loving nieces: Carrie Machalek, Nancy Buran, Andrea Moberg, Marylin Murphy, Helen Zimmer, Judy Horak, Jennifer Carter, Stacey Nowicki; and nephews
Scott Buran, Frankie Buran, Joseph Buran, Dougie Crockett. She is fondly remembered by many of her great nieces and nephews. In addition, she is also survived by other special relatives, including Pat Krupski and Doug Crockett.
In her last few years, she was well taken care of and loved by her aide Nancy Hill and Nancy's family. Amelia had many close friends, including Norman Button and former student Susie Nowak, who visited her often. Amelia graduated from Union-Endicott High School and Cortland College. She was a dedicated elementary school teacher at Vestal Central School District until she retired. Amelia's love for teaching was evident in the way she connected with her students. She was passionate about education, and her students often remembered her not just as a teacher, but as a mentor and friend.
Amelia loved to travel, read, speak Czechoslovakian, crochet, and enjoy good meals with friends and family. She was an energetic, passionate, and caring person who loved to start a good
conversation (or argument). Her laugh and smile were infectious. She also had a deep love for animals, especially elephants, and her former dog Jo-Jo.
