Amelia "Amy" C. (Poleski) Ernat, 88, of Caseville peacefully passed away, lovingly surrounded by her family, on Tuesday, August 26, 2025.

Amy was born on October 18, 1936, in Detroit to the late Stanley and Hedwig "Hattie" (Zacharias) Poleski. She graduated from St. Cyril High School in 1953 before earning a Bachelor's degree in Social Studies and Language Arts from the University of Michigan. She married Gerald "Jerry" Ernat on June 20, 1959, at Ascension Catholic Church in Warren. He preceded her in death on December 05, 2022.

Through her life Amy worked as an educator, but her true calling was raising, nurturing, and loving her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Caseville Fraternal Order of Eagles #3690, and served in the Caseville American Legion post #0543 as an Auxiliary Member. She was also a faithful parishioner of St. Roch Catholic Church in Caseville.

Amy loved flowers and seeing things grow. She fervently rooted for the Detroit Tigers, and enjoyed bowling and card clubs. Amy was gracious and giving with her time and consideration, helping collect donations for the Huron County SafePlace and Boxes for the Troops, as well as donating to numerous silent auctions around the region. Her most treasured activity was spending time with friends and family, entertaining those special loved ones around her who were so blessed to have Amy in their life.

Amy is survived by children Steven (Carol) Ernat of Waterford, Katherine (Jeffrey) Zacharias of St. Clair Shores, Elizabeth Romeo of Clinton Twp, Joanne Murphy of New Haven, and Dee Schuster of Harrison Twp; six grandchildren: Alissa, Zachary, Kaitlyn, James, Valerie, and Alexis Ruby; five great-grandchildren: Kate, Benny, Leila, Jordan and Miles; niece Sharron, her daughter Kristen, and her son Nathan. Amy was preceded in death by her husband of over 63 years, Jerry Ernat.

A funeral mass for Amy will be held on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at 11:00am at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish, St. Roch Catholic Church, 6253 Main St, Caseville, MI, Rev. Fr. George Amos presiding. Visitation will take place at the church from 10:00am until the time of service. To celebrate Amy's wonderful life, the family asks that those attending the visitation or funeral wear pastel colors or floral prints, as a Celebration of Life, rather than black. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Huron County SafePlace and Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish.
