Amelia L. "Millie" Malone, 98, of Bloomfield, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2024. Born in New Haven on October 5, 1925, the daughter of the late Vincenzo and Pasqualena (Zullo) Briganti. She attended local schools and graduated from High School in New Haven.
Millie worked as an accounting clerk for many years at CIGNA Insurance Company. She was a longtime communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Bloomfield. She was an active member of the Woman's Club of Bloomfield and the Bloomfield Senior Center where she volunteered, went on trips and spent time with many of her friends. In her early years, Millie sewed many of her older
daughter's dresses. She was an avid reader and regularly attended the Bloomfield Public Library. In her younger days, she enjoyed league bowling with her husband and passed that tradition on to her children. Millie and her family
spent many summers at Hawk's Nest Beach. After her husband's passing, she continued the family tradition by spending time at Cape Cod beaches with her brother Arthur and his family. She was a passionate fan of the UCONN Women's Basketball team, New York Yankees and New York Football Giants.
She is survived by her daughters, Patricia A. Malone of Wilmington, VT and Anne Marie Malone of Granby, her grandchildren, Michael Kniffin (the joy of her life), Daquan Sheffield and Kyirell Sheffield (her beloved bonus grandchildren) of Granby, and her sister, Flora Dempsey of New Haven. She treasured her many nieces and nephews who lovingly referred to her as Aunt Tootsie. Gratitude to Debbie Aceto whose regular phone calls provided friendship and joy to her life.Millie was forever grateful to her godson, Rick Zito who she affectionately referred to as her second son. Millie valued her conversations with longtime family friend, Eric Crone.
Millie was predeceased by her husband of 50 plus years Samuel T. Malone, her son Thomas P. Malone, and her brothers, James and Arthur Briganti.
A graveside service for Amelia L. Malone will be held on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at 12:30PM at Mount Saint Benedict Cemetery, 1 Cottage Grove Road, Bloomfield, CT 06002.
