In Loving Memory of Amminikutty Cherian
(November 13, 1936 – October 14, 2025)
"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith" – 2 Timothy 4:7
Amminikutty Cherian, a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother entered her eternal rest in the Lord on October 14, 2025, surrounded by her family and loved ones.
Born on November 13, 1936 in Karuvatta, a village in the Alleppey district of Kerala, India, she was the beloved daughter of Geevarghese and Rachel Chandy. After completing her early education in Karuvatta, she pursued nursing studies in Nagercoil, in Tamil Nadu, graduating in 1960. That same year, she married Valanmuriel Chacko Cherian on May 23, 1960, beginning a beautiful journey of faith, love, and service together.
The couple made their home in the steel township of Rourkela, Orissa, where Amminikutty worked at Ispat General Hospital (IGH). Through her dedication and skill, she rose to the position of Sister-In-Charge in the ENT ward, faithfully serving until her retirement in 1992. Her gentle compassionate care and professional excellence touched countless lives during her 32 years of service in IGH.
Following retirement, she lived in New Delhi for a few years and later moved to Malad, Mumbai in 2001. In 2009, she immigrated to the United States, living first in Atlanta, Georgia, with her children Pastor Shibu and Nissy, and later with her children Sheeba and Shaji, who both lovingly cared for her for many years until her passing.
After 55 blessed years of marriage, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband Valanmuriel Chacko Cherian, who went to be with the Lord on August 4, 2015.
She leaves behind a beautiful legacy of faith, kindness, and love through her children - Shirley (Late Pastor Joseph), Pastor Shibu (Nissy), Sheeba (Shaji); her cherished grandchildren - Jasper (Riya), Steve, Priscila (Justin), Sam, Pheba (Joel), Sharon, and Persis; and her precious great-grandsons - Ethan and Hudson.
Amminikutty was known for her gentle spirit, unwavering faith, and heart full of compassion. She was a source of comfort, help and encouragement to all who knew her. Her home was always open, her words always kind, and her prayers always faithful.
Her family and friends will remember her as a woman of quiet strength, grace, and deep devotion to God - one whose life reflected Christ's love in every season. Though she will be deeply missed, we rejoice in the hope that one day, we will meet her again on that beautiful shore.
"Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints." – Psalm 116:15
