Amos Rodriguez Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Rogers Family Mortuary - Manassa on Nov. 6, 2024.
Amos Rodriguez, after 92 wonderful years of life, passed away peacefully surrounded by his children and grandchildren in his home on November 4, 2024. He was born on October 2, 1932, in Antonito to Ismael and Brenilda Rodriguez. He attended school in La Jara where he participated in football, basketball, and baseball. He worked hard with his team as a quarterback to bring a State Championship home in football his senior year. He honorably served in the Navy for four years during the Korean War where he was stationed both in Guam and San Diego.
He married Catherine Hostetter on June 9, 1958. Together they welcomed 5 children into their family. His priority was taking care of them as he supported and sacrificed for them throughout the years. He hoped to pass down his teachings of respect and his example of hard work and dedication to his children and grandchildren.
He worked multiple jobs and ended his career at Adams State College where he served for 21 years. He also served in the volunteer fire department and Knights of Columbus.
He never knew a stranger and was known by all to be a very friendly and loving individual with a generous heart and compassion for other people.
He had a very good sense of humor and always a smile on his face.
He was an avid outdoorsman. He loved fishing, hunting, camping, and being in the fresh air. Later in life he enjoyed his family time by playing games at home such as corn hole, pool, and card games.
He is survived by his sister, Joyce Maestas, his children Scott, Michael (Nathel), Roxane, Katrina (Jorge), Darrin (Maura), 22 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and numerous nephews and nieces who all love, appreciate, and will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine, his parents, and 8 siblings.
Memorial Services will be held Saturday, November 9, 2024, at 9:00 am at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Conejos, Colorado, with a public viewing at 8:00 am. There will also be a viewing on Friday, November 8, 2024, from 4-6pm at Roger's Family Mortuary in Manassa, Colorado, with military honors.
What gives the family great strength and peace is their trust in our Savior Jesus Christ that because of His resurrection we will all be reunited again.
