Amos Johnson Smith, “Jody” (1958–2025), age 66, of Cumming, GA, passed away Saturday, February 1st, 2025. Jody was born on February 25th, 1958, and raised in Smyrna, Georgia. He is preceded in death by his parents, Amos Claire Smith, “Buddy,” and Norma Smith.

Survivors include his wife, Karen D. Smith of Cumming; children, Amos Mitchell Smith of Cumming and Valerie (Jacob) Sutton of Cumming; stepchildren, Kristen (Kevin) Green of Tucker, GA, Eric (Anastasia) Keith of Duluth, GA, and Jennifer Maciuszek, who resides in London, England; three grandchildren, Bradley Sutton, Amelia Keith, and Asher Sutton; his sisters, Nona (Mike) Armour of Asheville, NC, and Cheryl (Tim) Payne of Marietta, GA; cousin, Sabrena (Brad) Reed of Jacksonville & Wyoming; and many loving relatives, dear friends, and bonus kids Jody watched grow up and adored.

A Celebration of Life will be held on February 16th, 2025, at Cherry Street Brewing in Vickery Village, Cumming, GA, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. A eulogy will be given by his cousin, Danny Dukes, at 3 p.m. Private direct inurnment will take place in Marietta, GA, where Jody will be laid to rest with his beloved mother and father, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

As anyone who knew Jody would know—he never met a stranger. He had the deepest love for his family, his Christian faith, his friends, the bonus kids, all kinds of music, and, of course, being the outdoorsman he was, he always loved hunting and fishing. He is now in heaven doing all the things he loved and enjoying again with those he missed so dearly.
