Amy Cass Obituary

"The brain of Amy (Lee) Cass succumbed to her Alzheimer's disease some years ago. She
endured the descent into the ugliness that is dementia with the same exemplary strength and
dignity that she lived her life until sentient thought was no longer possible. Her other vital organs finally stopped functioning on August 9, 2024. She was 69 years of age.
She was a "couldn't ask for a better" sister, companion, wife, and mother. An unassuming but
very accomplished artist and athlete, her family and friends basked in her kindness, energy,
warmth, and joie de vivre. If you knew her I need write no more. If you didn't, any attempt to
summarize her life will sound trite. The holes in the souls of her family and friends are large.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Joe. I married up. We have two surviving sons,
Mike (Katie), and Abe (Coresa). Our youngest son, David, died in 2013. She has five
grandchildren: Emily, Will, Connor, Theo, and Otto. She was the pick of the litter in a large
Dubuque, Iowa family; she has seven siblings.
Her body will be cremated at Cease Funeral Home in Park Rapids, MN. No formal funeral
ceremony is planned at this time. Please try to remember her as the accomplished woman that she was before the scourge of dementia: her brightness as the light of my life and a shining light in yours."

Dan and I share in your family´s sadness, Joe. Such a well written tribute for a very special lady.
Amy was admired by so many for her artistic talents, devotion to her boys and husband and home. She was confident and charming. Our paths crossed through St Mary´s/O´Gorman fund raisers and through mutual friends. Whenever our paths crossed, after visiting, Amy always, ALWAYS, I left feeling a bit better about the world.

I am so sorry for your loss. I remember you, Amy and the boys on McKennan Park years ago. I babysat for the boys as a teen. I just lost my husband last week from a tragic accident and I know first hand these days of grief. - Emily (Paulson) Quinn
