Amy Stratton of Beachwood NJ, passed away at the age of 62, on Tuesday June 4th, 2024, at home while surrounded by her family after a four-year battle with Renal Cancer.
Born the youngest of three siblings to William and Mary Stratton, she was raised in South Amboy. She graduated from St. Mary's High School and later graduated from Seton Hall, with a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
She worked as a Registered Nurse for 40 years, starting her career at St. Michaels in Newark, then to Deborah Heart and Lung Center in Browns Mills, and finally ending her career as charge nurse of the Cardiac Rehab at Community Medical Center in Toms River.
She was renowned as a compassionate and caring nurse; it wasn't a normal day for Amy if she didn't run into at least one of her old patients who would be thrilled to see her.
While she did love being a nurse, her favorite role by far was that of Sister and Aunt. To Amy, the value and importance of family was paramount; this was taught to her by her loving family, especially her cousin Ellen, who took Amy, Kate and Bob in after the death of their parents.
Later, Amy and her siblings moved into an apartment together with the support of their Aunt Helen, where they fostered an unbreakable bond and lived together for many years.
Though Amy didn't have children of her own, she was the loving and proud Aunt to her brother's children, Emily, Chloe and Conor to whom she was a constant pillar of love and support throughout their entire lives. Every Tuesday was "Amy Day" as she babysat her nieces and nephews weekly, and often their cousins and multitudes of friends. She lovingly became everyone's Aunt Amy, and was a constant presence in everyone's lives, never missing a birthday, recital, play, game, graduation, or any special moment.
Aside from being Aunt to all, Amy had endless talents. She was a captivating storyteller, anyone who has heard about her experience at the Red Door Spa knows that she could bring any room to hysterics. She could make a Halloween costume in under an hour, made the best scones, the best chicken cutlets in the world, and was one hell of a spoon player. Amy will always be remembered as the kindest and most loving person anyone could ever know. She will be missed.
Amy is predeceased by her parents, William and Mary Stratton, and her Aunt Helen Farrell. She is survived by her brother, Bob Stratton and wife Claire, sister, Kate Stratton, nieces, Emily and Chloe Stratton, nephew, Conor Stratton, numerous cousins, and many lifelong friends.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, June 9, 2024, from 11am to 3pm at the Carmona Bolen Home for Funerals, 412 Main St., Toms River, NJ. A Funeral Service to celebrate Amy's life will be offered at 2:30pm at the funeral home. Amy and I met many many years ago as nurse at DHLC. I left DHLC and asked her to join me at my new location. I love Amy. She was such a kind and caring soul. And an AMAZING nurse. I will miss her.

Dear Bob, Kate and the entire Stratton family,
I can´t tell you how sorry I was to learn of Amy´s passing. I have so many wonderful memories of her when we lived together at college and years of friendship that followed. Amy always had a funny story to tell about something that happened to her along the way and was just a special person to be around. She will be missed by so many.
