Services for the beloved Amy Esperansa Torres, 18, of Lawrence, will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. Visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m. until the celebration of her vibrant life begins. She passed away August 21, 2025, at her home.
Born on November 9, 2006, in Lawrence, KS, Amy was the cherished daughter of Rafael and Alma Gloria (Sandoval) Torres. A recent graduate of Free State High School, she passionately dedicated her time working as a CNA at Pioneer Ridge Health and Rehab, where her kindness and care touched the lives of many residents.
Amy approached life with an infectious joy and a desire to spread happiness to those around her. She loved to dance, draw and do make up on anyone that let her. Her heart was open to all creatures, spending time at the Humane Society, Petco with the cats and always looking to provide a home for strays. Her compassionate spirit was endlessly occupied with helping others.
Loved by many, Amy is survived by her devoted parents, Rafael and Alma Torres; brothers Rafa, Andy, and Charlie Torres; her sister, Daisy Lutze; brother in-law Josh Lutze as well as numerous nieces and nephews who adored her company. Dre Torres, Ava Torres, Olivia Rose, Cambren Torres, Frank Demby, Alicia Demby and Colt Lutze; Her furry companions, cats Macho, Luna, Pancake, Mimi, and dog Liza, were a big part of her treasured circle. She also leaves behind her brother’s cats, Josie, Xena, and Baby Cat.
The family invites donations in Amy’s memory to the Lawrence Humane Society, in loving support of her passion for animal care, in the care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary; 120 W 13th Street, Lawrence, KS 66044.
