Ana Coca Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Howard K. Hill Funeral Services - New Haven on Jan. 28, 2026.
Ana Maria was born on October 12, 1946, in San Diego, Villa Clara, Cuba, to David Leon and Maria Perez. As a teenager, she would listen to church services from the nearby Iglesia Evangélica "Los Pinos Nuevos" in Santo Domingo, Cuba, even though her parents discouraged it. At the age of 18, she accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior.
She met her future husband, Ezequiel Coca, in 1968 at a youth camp hosted by Los Pinos Nuevos Seminario. Ana later attended the seminary to become a certified children's Sunday school teacher. She married Ezequiel in Placetas, Cuba, in 1974.
Ana faithfully served the Lord for 18 years in various churches throughout Cuba, teaching children's Sunday school classes and leading women's ministries. In 1989, she immigrated with her family to Yonkers, NY, where she continued her ministry at Maranatha Baptist Church for 22 years until her retirement in 2011. That same year, she moved to New Haven, CT, to be closer to her family.
Ana was a wonderful cook, loved sewing, and enjoyed raising chickens. Most of all, she cherished hosting family and friends. She went home to be with the Lord on Monday, January 26, 2026, at Yale-New Haven Hospital. We thank God for Ana.
Ana Maria is survived by her loving husband, Ezequiel Coca; her beloved son, Adiel; and her cherished brothers, Orbelio and Orlando. She is now reunited in heaven with her dear son, Ezer. She will be deeply missed by her four grandchildren-Amelia, Eliana, Elizabeth, and Alex-as well as her daughters-in-law, Yusel Siverio-Coca and Karem Coca, and the many people whose lives she touched.
