Andre Normand Obituary

André R. Normand, 82, of Windham passed away peacefully on December 17, 2025.

Born in Manchester on July 28, 1943, he was the second child of Raoul and Estelle (Boulanger) Normand. Andy (or "Moochie," after the irrepressible Mouseketeer) was a graduate of Manchester West High School, in 1961, and of mighty Assumption College, in 1965.

Growing up on the west side, Andy and his older brother, Charles, began working early in life, at the well-known Normand Bros. Baking Co. After college and the Army Reserves, Andy worked primarily as the director of human resources at a series of successful technology companies, including Charles River Breeding Labs, Priority Call Management, Appian Communications, and Acme Packet. He was good at his job and a well-liked colleague wherever he worked.

With his loving wife of fifty-seven years, Muriel (Chabot), Andre took up golf and skiing, weekending in the White Mountains and at the beach, and traveling in New England, Quebec, and Europe. He and Muriel especially enjoyed spending time with Charlie and Alice Normand and their children, Joanne, Christine, and David; with, later in her life, Alice and George Prasch; with Donald and Kathleen Perkins and their children, Carol, Tim, Patty, Celia, Paul, and John-to whom Moochie was something of an uncle-and all their children; and with his longtime neighbors in Windham, where he and Muriel made their home for fifty years, especially Jim and Sue Katsekas and Frank and Kay Enwright.

Andy had an excellent (and irreverent) sense of humor and a hearty laugh. He had opinions and was hard to convince of most anything, which would often add to his humor. He was big on handing out chores. He liked to help Muriel cook-he mainly did the lobsters. He peppered his expansive vocabulary with expert (and often French) profanities. He loved children and would match their silliness. He was an avid fan of National Public Radio. He liked (as he would say) to have a beer or six. He survived a serious heart attack at age 52. Admittedly not athletic, he would still critique any athlete in any sport. He was a good provider and was proud of it.

Andy will be remembered as a loving son, brother, husband, father, uncle, pépere, and friend. He was predeceased by Muriel in 2023. His surviving family members include their children, Peter Normand, of Manchester; Edward Normand, of Bronxville, New York; and Andrea (Normand) Munoz, of Manchester; his daughter-in-law, Sarah Normand, and son-in-law, John Munoz; their grandchildren, Parker, Anna, William, Catherine, and Leah; Parker's mother, Japa; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services and burial will be private at the convenience of the family. All family and friends are invited to a celebration of Andy's life on Friday, January 9, from 12 to 3 p.m. at the Puritan Backroom's Pappas Function Room.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Andy's memory may be made to National Public Radio or the American-Canadian Genealogical Society.

Sorry for the loss of your dad. Being cousin to the Perkins we had the pleasure of knowing your parents also. Kind, loving people who enjoyed everyone as everyone loved being with them. Now they are together.
