Andrea Lee Delis, our devoted and loving mother, returned to our Heavenly Father on March 23, 2025. Born in Murray, Utah on January 17, 1949, to Jack and Dessie McCarty. From early childhood, Lee always loved the mountains. From fishing to climbing, she loved to be outside. At the age of nine, Lee converted to a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Lee attended Granite High School and during that time, she met Roger G. Delis. Lee and Roger were later married on September 24, 1965, and sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple in 1981. From the time they got married, Lee was determined to help her family financially. She held multiple positions throughout her life. Her dedication took her to Derks Field, 7/11, and Maxfields Candy. Before having children, the two lived on a California ranch where they learned to work together and enjoy themselves. After moving back to Utah, together they welcomed four beautiful daughters: Jodi, Tina, Michelle, and Nicole. With all four girls still at home, Lee made the courageous decision to go back to school and continue her education. She graduated from Salt Lake Community College with her nursing degree. Lee was a devoted and wonderful nurse for several decades. Lee and Roger later divorced, but remained close friends, parents, and later grandparents until Roger passed away in 2011. Lee loved her thirteen grandchildren: Marcus (Courtney E.), Braeden (Logan N.), Tori, Ethan, Courtney (Brayden M.), Tyler (Charity), Nick, Lexi (Jason), Kassius, Linkoln, Airez, Logan G., Lillie, and four great grandchildren: Paisley, Parker, Dalton, and Micah. Each grandchild was special to Lee, and they knew it.
Lee had a wide variety of interests. She was an avid Utah Jazz fan and Mickey Mouse fanatic. From driving up to East Canyon or the Uintas to hear the gravel under her tire, to sitting at Current Creek with a fishing rod in one hand and her Coca Cola in another; her love for the outdoors never wavered. Lee was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held multiple compassionate service leader callings throughout her life. Lee's love for family was staggering. She was always looking for ways to connect with her children and grandchildren. She was strong-willed and determined, resilient, and powerful. Lee had an impact on each person she interacted with. She lived her life to the fullest despite her many challenges. She never wavered in her compassion for others. Her legacy is one of unyielding love and generosity. To know Lee, was to love Lee. Her loss is deeply felt by her family and all those who knew and loved her. Her memory will continue to live on and inspire strength, generosity, and resilience in those whose lives she touched.
Lee is preceded in death by her mother and father, siblings Jack and Jean, Roger Delis, and Harrah (her loyal four-legged friend). She is survived by her four children: Jodi (Michael), Tina (Matt), Michelle, and Nicole, her thirteen grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. Services for Lee will be held at 3665 South 6000 West in West Valley City, Utah (84128) on April 8, 2025, at 11:00 AM. The family will receive friends Monday April 7, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the same location. Memories and condolences may be shared at www.serenityfhs.com.
