Andrea was an active Girl Scout in her youth, a reflection of her adventurous spirit and commitment to community. She graduated from Durham High School, where she formed lifelong friendships and laid the foundation for a life of compassion and resilience. In 1982, Andrea made the loving decision to adopt her two children, Toni and Donald, embracing motherhood with unwavering devotion. She later built a distinguished career at RTI International, retiring after 27 years of dedicated service. Andrea was a proud grandmother to five grandchildren - Netty, Andrew, Liam, Jackson, and Hunter - each of whom she cherished deeply and spoke of often with joy and pride. Her legacy lives on in the love she gave so freely and the strength she showed throughout her life.
Ms. Garner is survived by her brother Andrew Garner, Jr., her daughter, Toni Sossomon and husband Robert; son, Donald Garner; grandchildren, Netty Gentry, Andrew, Liam, Jackson, and Hunter Sossomon.
A memorial service will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, November 15th at Clements Funeral Home in Durham.
