Andreas Schadt

Andreas Schadt, 88, of Tolland, beloved husband of Maria Theresa (Wagner) Schadt, died peacefully on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at Manchester Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family.

Andreas was born in Yugoslavia and, at the age of six, left with his mother Elisabeth (Walter) Kramser and his sister to Austria, where he was raised by his mother and step-father, Franz Kramser. At 19, he immigrated to the U.S. with his family to Long Island, NY. He met and married the love of his life, Maria Wagner, on March 27, 1960. Later that year in August, he enlisted in the Army and served actively from 1960–1962.

After returning from Colorado and living in Ridgewood, NY, Andreas and Maria moved to Tolland, CT, in January of 1967, where they raised their family and lived for over 57 years. Andreas worked for Pratt & Whitney Aircraft for more than 34 years as a welder. He enjoyed skiing and playing tennis with his friends from work. He was a 50-year member of the United Congregational Church of Tolland and a founding member and long-time supporter of the Tolland Soccer Club.

A devoted husband, father, and family man, he will be dearly missed. Along with his wife of over 65 years, Maria, he leaves his children: Richard A. Schadt and his wife Ines of Vernon; Robert A. Schadt and his wife Susan of Tolland; and Sandra E. Lucia and her husband Howard Horgan of Bolton, VT. He also leaves his sister, Christine Paganucci of Smithtown, NY; his brother, Alfred Kramser and his wife Elizabeth of Malverne, NY; his sister-in-law, Erna Dech of New Milford; and his grandchildren, Max A. Schadt and his wife Jessica of Tucson, AZ; Elisabeth A. Lucia of South Hero, VT; Matthew B. Lucia of Bolton, VT; Andrew B. Schadt of Natick, MA; and Adam R. Schadt of Tolland.

His family will receive friends on Thursday, September 11, 2025, from 5–7 p.m. at the Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Rd. (Rte. 83), Vernon. A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 12, 2025, at 12 p.m., meeting directly at the United Congregational Church of Tolland, 45 Tolland Green, Tolland. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Tolland.
