Andrew August Andreas, affectionately known as Andy to his friends and family, passed away on December 31, 2025, at the age of 49, due to complications from surgery in
Oak Lawn, IL. Born on August 7, 1976, in
Joliet, IL, Andy was a man whose laughter and skilled hands brought joy and comfort to all who knew him.
Andy's family was the center of his universe. His beloved wife, Christina Andreas (James), was his partner in crime and laughter, sharing in all the shenanigans that Andy masterminded. Together they raised three wonderful children: Caitlyn, Tyler, and Tristen, who inherited their dad's knack for bringing a smile to anyone's face. Andy's family tree branched out to include his younger brother Aaron (with wife Amanda in tow), his protective older sister Nancy Burgess (and her husband Tom), and his caring older sister Elizabeth Dehm. They could always count on Andy to lighten any family gathering with his quick wit. While his mother, Alvera Dehm, had preceded him, her spirit and humor lived on through Andy. Andy's legacy continues through his numerous nieces and nephews and his treasured pets: Tom, Sunny, and Goldie, with whom he shared countless hours of joy.
Andy took pride in his role as a Service Manager at TruGreen, where he cultivated not only lawns but also lasting friendships. He may not have had a string of letters after his name, but his GED was a testament to his belief that education comes in many forms, including the school of life, where he graduated with honors in car repair, kitty cuddling, and country music appreciation.
A man of many interests, Andy was known for his passion for working on cars, a skill he approached with the same precision and care as every aspect of his life. He cherished moments spent with family and friends, driving his Mini Cooper, and enjoying the simple pleasures of country music. Always one to appreciate the thrill of a gamble, Andy found joy in playing slot machines and relished the excitement of victory. Andy's feline trio - Tom, Sunny, and Goldie - were more than just pets; they were his fuzzy sidekicks, with Tom claiming the title of favorite. They were the purr-fect audience for his one-liners and the best lap warmers after a long day at work. Andy was passionate about making money, not for the sake of wealth, but for the joy of providing for his family and splurging on those he loved.
Described by those who knew him as funny, handy, and passionate, Andy left an indelible mark on the lives of many. His humor could light up a room, his handywork could fix almost anything, and his passion was the fuel for his many endeavors. Andy's legacy is not just in the projects he completed or the successes he achieved, but in the laughter he shared, the lives he touched, and the love he spread.
As we bid farewell to Andy, we celebrate a life lived with vigor, kindness, and a boundless spirit of generosity. He will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him, but the memories he created will forever be cherished in the hearts of his family and friends. Andy's life is a testament to the beauty of a soul that lived fully, loved deeply, and left a lasting impression on the world. Rest in peace, dear Andy, until we meet again.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Farkas Funeral Home 3201 West Jefferson Street, Joliet on Saturday, January 17, 2026 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
