It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Andrew Ray Basco Jr., lovingly known as Ray among friends and Junior to family. He passed at Oschner's Lafayette General and was 55 years old. Junior was a devoted son, brother, uncle, and friend, whose life was characterized by an immense capacity for love. From a young age, it was evident that he had the biggest heart. His family, especially his beloved mother and father, meant the world to him.
Visitation for Junior will be Friday, June 6, 2025, from 8:30-10:00 am at Gallagher Funeral Home. Services will be at 10:00 at the funeral home with Rev. Ricky Belgard officiating. Burial will take place immediately following the service and be at Holloway Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers honored to serve are Jason Logan, Colt Stuard, Matt Shelton, Kristian Cross, Josh Single, and Paul Weis. Honorary pallbearers will be Perry Jamison, Mike Nugent, and Jake Walker.
Junior was preceded in death by his father, Andrew Ray Basco, Sr.; maternal grandparents, Bill and Elsie Gurgainers; and paternal grandparents, Alex Basco and Evelyn Vandersypen.
Those left to cherish his memory are his mother, Junie Basco; siblings, Denise Nugent (Mike), Tia Jamison (Perry), Charmin Weis (Paul), and Jason Logan (Debi); nieces, Kayla Walker (Jake), Kinsey Single (Josh), Paige Cross (Kristian), Sarah Nugent, Heather Salard (Michael), Samantha Stuard (Colt), Jacie Logan (Justin), and Linzey Shelton (Matt); and fourteen great nieces and nephews.
Junior began his career working alongside his father at Geo Technical Laboratories, where he embraced and embodied many of his father's admirable traits. His infectious smile and hearty laughter could light up any room, bringing joy to those around him. Junior had a playful spirit, always ready to share a joke or make someone laugh. He was his mother's primary caregiver. He remained his mama's baby boy throughout his life, cherishing that bond until his last day.
Junior's love for his family and friends leaves a lasting legacy. He will be deeply missed, and we will cherish his memory forever. May he rest in peace.
