Uncle Pat,
Today is your first angelversary, to which I can hear your sarcasm now, "Yes, I'm well aware - and your point is?" #LOL
Following up on weekly sports and current events hasn't been the same with out you. Rest assured my appreciation for silicone spatulas and dexter knives lives on, as does my indifference to cooking with saffron and sipping peated whiskey.
Miss you lots,
Eve

What is your first memory of Andrew?
My first memory of Uncle Pat was when he bought me a National Geographic subscription for my birthday. Anytime we chatted, he asked me what I learned. So when I told him (carrying on as I normally would), he´d say, "Ok then. Are you sure you didn´t leave anything out?" #YouTalkAlot
Share a favorite memory you have of Andrew?
Not entirely sure it was favorable, but I do remember when Uncle Pat and Aunt Nancy took me and my sisters to the Ozarks for a canoe trip. Someone´s canoe was tipped, and someone WAS NOT happy. #BetterRun
Tell us about a special moment you shared with Andrew.
A special moment that I shared with Uncle Pat (and Aunt Nancy) was my PhD graduation. Unable to attend, they watched remotely online with some peated whiskey. When I FaceTimed Uncle Pat and Aunt Nancy from the Yard House restaurant during dinner, he told me how relieved he was that I was hooded in the first 20 minutes of the ceremony - and that he was proud of me. We shared a moment of silent glossy eyes (him) and full-on waterworks (me). Of course when he heard my friends cheer at the table as shots were delivered he welcomed the pivot. #StayOutOfJail
Describe a time when Andrew made you laugh or smile.
After a grad school residency in Atlanta, GA I made a pitstop in Hampton, VA for a quick visit. Over his great dish of curried chicken and rice I asked Uncle Pat, "Hey, do you mind me asking why you never had kids?" There was a noticeable pause, so I took a sip of wine. As if to almost wait for my gulp he replied, "Yeah, I do mind. I had no desire to prove that I could screw it up." I choked on my wine and his impish laugh prevailed. #OkThen
What is something you will always remember about Andrew?
Uncle Pat said what he meant, and meant what he said. And when he chose not to say anything, his gift for non-verbals filled the space. That said, I never questioned his care, consideration, or commitment to helping me as needed. #Eyebrows
Talk about a shared experience you had with Andrew.
In the first 6 months of 2019, my sister, myself, and Uncle Pat were dealt some crushing blows to our health - TNBC, MS, and ALS respectively. The last 5 years have been unfair on so many levels, and yet [this] brought us closer in many ways. #NotAlone
What is something you did together that you enjoyed?
We weren´t really open to braiding each other´s hair and talking about our feelings. In reality, we much preferred talking about (all) sports, favorite shows, and world news - to the latter he´d lament, "You can´t fix stupid." #TruDat
Describe a place or activity that reminds you of Andrew.
Every time I see the jets fly over football stadiums and baseball fields, I think of Uncle Pat. Likewise, when I watch the TopGun movies, I´m reminded of my first trip to California when we toured a few bases and drove through Miramar. #Maverick
Tell us about a personal story or anecdote involving Andrew.
Over the years Uncle Pat and I have shared many stories of our beloved four-leggeds, always circling back to a common resolve. We generally loved our dogs more than we liked most humans - with one exception of course. #AuntNancy
What is something you learned from Andrew?
From Uncle Pat I learned the power of education, service, and perspective. #KeepItSimpleStupid
