GARNER, Andrew Claud, resident of Prattville, AL, passed away peacefully at the age of 82 on Monday, December 19, 2022. Mr. Garner was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Dorothy Garner. He is survived by his loving wife, Delia Garner.
Loving father of four daughters, Cindy Wiedemann (Rainer), Karen Garner (Salome), Theresa Musgrove (Calvin) and Dorothy Malczewski (Wayne Evans);
Proud grandfather of six grandchildren, Charles Fogle (Ashley), Pamela Starnes (Michael), Andrew Musgrove (Brad), Natali Wiedemann (Chris), Amy Sasser (Will), Leesa Malczewski (his favorite);
Great-grandfather of five beautiful great-grandchildren, Ron, Abi, William, Emma and Sawyer;
Brother of William Garner (Patt); extended family and friends.
Andy enjoyed a 20-year career with the Navy as a Communications Technician being stationed in Adak, Alaska; Sonoma, CA; Sidi Yahia, Morocco; Bremerhaven, Germany; then back to the states to Manassas, Virginia; Corpus Christi, Texas; Ft, Meade, Maryland until his retirement in 1977.
He then went to work for Department of Defense in Ft. Meade, Maryland, adding another 20 years of government service. During this time as a civilian, he had tours of Duty to Bad Aibling, Germany; Moscow, USSR; Beijing, China; and a final overseas tour to Bangkok, Thailand; Then back home until his retirement in 1997.
Andy will be fondly remembered by family and friends as a loving father and dedicated husband. When we think of Dad, we will always remember him for his sense of humor and how he always made everyone around him laugh. Through the years, he enjoyed playing golf, and spending time with his family. He loved visiting Arizona, making annual trips to golf with his friends and frequenting his future retirement home in Marana.
