Archer-Milton Funeral Home - Lake ButlerAndrew Kirk Gleason, affectionately known as Kirt, was born on March 25, 1955, in Ft. Pierce, Florida, and passed away peacefully at his home in Gainesville on September 5, 2025, after an extended illness. Kirt was a remarkable man who dedicated over 30 years of his life to welding at Mercury Aircraft. After relocating to Florida, he continued to hone his craft at Chauncey's Metal Works until he embraced retirement, allowing him more time for family and his cherished hobbies.
Kirt was a proud Marine, having served for two years with the US Marines, a testament to his strength and commitment to service. Those who knew him well often described his personality as quiet and reserved—a gentle spirit whose presence spoke volumes. His joy came alive through moments spent outdoors, particularly in his backyard. An avid shooting enthusiast, Kirt took delight in setting up targets and inviting his family to join him, sharing laughter and creating memories that will forever be in the hearts of those who loved him.
Kirt secured his faith in Jesus Christ and was a member of Johnstown Baptist Church. He leaves behind a loving family who will forever celebrate his legacy. Kirt is survived by his wife of 21 years, Colleen Gleason; his daughter, Amanda Gleason, and son-in-law Jason Markoff; step-children, Patrick (Christy) Wraight and Michael (Paula) Wraight. Kirt was a proud grandfather to Carter, LilyAna, Christopher (Taylor), Michael (Angela), and Aaliyah, as well as a great-grandfather to the delightful trio of Jaina, Mara, and Micah. He is also leaves behind his sister, Patricia Gleason.
Kirt is preceded in death by his parents, Bud and Bea Gleason.
A memorial service celebrating Kirt's life will be held on October 11, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Johnstown Baptist Church in Lake Butler, Florida. Family and friends are invited to gather as they share stories, remember the joy he brought, and honor the quiet strength of a man who will forever remain in their hearts.
