Andrew "Hicks" Morrison, 85, entered into the presence of his Lord, on April 24, 2025.
Born November 9, 1939 in Rutherford County to the late Flay and Celia Toney Morrison, he had an early career in furniture manufacturing with Henredon Furniture. His legacy career was in management retiring with Doran Textiles.
Hicks was highly skilled in many areas: woodworking, home construction, any type of engine repair (vehicle or farm equipment), electrical, plumbing, gardening and bee keeping. Many neighbors were able to enjoy a custom bird feeder he designed and built that was a small version of a decorate gazebo. He took great pride in crafting and building including homes and furniture.
Married to the love of his life and best friend, Geraldine Sisk Morrison, they were married for 58 years until her death on April 25, 2018. Married at an early age, they were inseparable as a couple and best friends and truly taught us "how to love" family, friends, and neighbors.
Known by many for his impeccable character and compassion, he was frequently recognized as a top manager at Doran Textiles and truly loved in his church and home community. He would give deeply of his time and resources to help others. He served faithfully as a deacon at Goode's Grove Baptist Church for over 40 years. He was a strong man of faith, and remembered for his tender prayers and love for children.
Hicks' legacy is built on his love for God and his family. He loved being dad and grandpa to his "girls" and their spouses and always willing to give devoted time and attention adoring his granddaughters. His final wish in life was to welcome his first great-grandchild, and he was able to meet Baylor Andrew Talley one month ago.
Hicks was preceded in death by his brother Alfred Morrison, sisters Hazel Bright, and Mary Ann Hughes. He is survived by his daughters Angela (Rick) Orsky and Michelle Lail (Billy Marshall); his granddaughters Nicolette (James) Talley and son Baylor Andrew, Michaela (Keaton) Poole, Sarah Lail; his brother Carl (Susan) Morrison, sister Brenda Goforth, sister-in-law Virginia Morrison; his extended family Ahmya Sumter, Billy Marshall, and Andy Lail.
A special thank you to his caregivers/friends who brought much joy into his life, Hannah and Emma Greene. Thank you to Brenon Austin for your time and gentleness as well. To the host of private CNAs who offered up your personal time to help us support his care at home, we are forever grateful. A special acknowledgement to Hospice of Rutherford County, especially April, for their care.
A graveside service will be held at Cleveland Memorial Park, Shelby, NC on Monday, April 28, 2025 at noon with Reverend Robby Hensley officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Goode's Grove Baptist Church, PO Box 67, Mooresboro, NC 28114. Eggers Funeral Home of Cliffside, NC is serving the family
