In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, Thomas Daye and daughter, Gloria Daye; and two brothers: Leon Palmer and Melvin Jr. Palmer.
He leaves to cherish precious memories, his wife, Mabel Palmer of the home; children: Arlene Coleman (Curtis) of Roxboro, North Carolina, Prentice Daye (Lalita) of Bullock, North Carolina, Burnice Daye (Sekethia), Charlie Daye and Debra Daye, all of Roxboro; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings: Betsy Lewis (Edward), Arnold Palmer, and Bishop Dennis Palmer (Debbie), all of Roxboro, Elizabeth Black (Joseph) of Greensboro, North Carolina, Shirley Foxx (Charles) of Graham, North Carolina, Alice Watson (Rufus) of Roxboro, Bettye Jean Benton (David), also of Greensboro and Remele Harris and Calvin Palmer (Marjorie), both of Roxboro; and a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and friends.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, May 3, 2025 at 2:00pm at Cunningham & Associates Funeral Services Chapel, with the Reverend Ronald Booker, Pastor at Jones Chapel Baptist Church, providing the eulogy. Burial will follow at the Mt. Gideon Apostolic Church Cemetery, 1000 Hazel Lawson Church Road, Roxboro, North Carolina 27574.
Visitation will also be Saturday at the funeral home from 1:00 pm to 2:00pm when his body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.
At other times, the family will receive visitors at his home, 511 Hazel Lawson Road, Roxboro, North Carolina 27574.
