Andrew Pecchio Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel - Warren on Jul. 4, 2025.
Andrew J. Pecchio, 76, of Farmdale, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, July 1, 2025. Andrew was born October 17, 1948 in Youngstown. He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Margaret G. (Scaperotto) Pecchio and brother, Ronald R. Pecchio. He was a graduate of Chaney High School and proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1968-1974.
Andrew began his law enforcement career with the Mahoning County Sheriff Department in 1971 and began to serve on the Mahoning Ashtabula Trumbull Drug Unit until 1976. He joined the Liberty Police Department as a patrolman in 1974 and retired as a Detective Sergeant in 1990. He held the position of Commander of the Drug Unit for Mahoning County under Sheriff Ed Nemeth. He was a dedicated public servant and worked tirelessly to protect the community. After retiring from a decorated career in law enforcement, Andrew was appointed as a bailiff in Girard Municipal Court for the late Honorable Michael Bernard. A true testament to the incredible police officer that he was, he was asked to step in as the Chief of Police in Vienna Township for several years until he finally retired for good.
His true passion, however, was his farm, which he warmly named Sugar Creek Farm. As an escape from the hectic world of cops and robbers, Sugar Creek Farm was a haven of green pastures, cows, horses and chickens. Andrew spent countless hours turning the farm into a beautiful and prosperous home that his children, grandchildren, family and friends gathered for many years. Andrew enjoyed riding his horse, Paddy, on long trail rides and breeding cows. He looked forward to his hunting trips out west with his very best friends. But above all, his greatest joy in life came from visits with his grandchildren and regaling them with wild stories. No one ever really knowing what was true and what Papa Andy was making up. He was incredibly proud of each of them. He was equally as proud to share his home with his grandson Nicholas and daughter Andrea, who both made him laugh and took excellent care of him in recent years. Andrea and Jennifer's fondest memory of Andrew is him pulling them in the red wagon from their grandparent's home to the playground in Mill Creek Park. And they want to thank him for fulfilling his promise of building a home in the country and for all that he has done for them.
Andrew will be terribly missed and his absence in our world will never be replaced. Andrew leaves behind to cherish his memory his two devoted daughters, Andrea Pecchio of Farmdale; Jennifer (Ken) Troutman of Chagrin Falls; his four grandchildren that adored him, Nicholas Muscarella; Anthony, Dominic and Sophia Alandt; his two nieces, Dawn Michelle (Jason) Roberts of Navarre and Carla (Matthew) Pecchio-Bowen of Canfield and their children, and numerous cousins, family and friends.
Family and friends may pay their respects to Andrew on Tuesday, July 8, 2025 from 11:00 to 1:00 pm at the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel 1884 North Rd. NE, Warren, Ohio 44483.
A funeral Mass will be Tuesday, July 8, 2025 at 1:30 pm at St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish – Blessed Sacrament Church with Fr. Christopher Cicero officiating.
Burial will be in All Souls Cemetery with military Honors.
In lieu of flowers, monetary contributions can be made in honor of Andrew, a Navy veteran, to the Veterans Association.

My heart goes out to the Pecchio family and friends at the loss of such a cherished father, grandfather and friend to many. Andrew clearly devoted much of his life to the protection and care of the country and the communities he called home. I know his daughter Jennifer as another hard-working public servant who has spent 20 years in the service of the Federal government, continuing her father's legacy of devoting her working life to others. The fact she is such a fine person is a living tribute to the father he was. Wishing you all peace at this very difficult time.

Met Andy a few years ago buying cattle from him for my son´s 4-H projects. Was looking forward to seeing Andy at the fair this week as he always came to see Kyle´s finished projects.
Spoke to Andy a couple weeks ago and he said he has a bull calf for next year for us.
With permission, we would like to name it ANDY

I knew Andy briefly for a few years at the beginning of my LE career.
You can pretty much bet that most of the stories were real. No matter where I traveled and mentioned my association with MCSO, the first question was always "Did you know Andy Pecchio?"

We started together in Law Enforcement as two young men. We worked together, became life long friends. I for one will never forget you my old friend. I pray for open green pastures and beautiful blue sky´s for you to enjoy. You earned it my friend. Until we meet again on the other side.
