Andrew Raftopoulos Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Potere-Modetz Funeral Home - Rochester on May 22, 2025.
With a heavy heart, we are saying our final goodbye to a loving father and husband, Andrew Paul Raftopoulos, who departed peacefully on May 20th, 2025, at the age of 69.
Andy was born on July 29th, 1955 in Plainfield, New Jersey to Spyros and Eve (neé Steindorff) Raftopoulos. He was the oldest of two. Andy and his brother, Denis, enjoyed wreaking family havoc growing up in Piscataway, New Jersey. Three additional siblings joined the family when his father remarried Pauline Hudgens.
On February 12th, 1983, he married Dianne Lynnette Lenz. They lived happily married, in New Jersey, for 1 year, before ending up in Michigan, when Andy received a promotion at GM. They were married for 42 glorious years. In 1991 he was overjoyed when his children, a set of triplets, joined the family. They were, and always have been a source of great joy for him.
Andy started his career at General Motors Institute, as a co-op student and worked, as an engineer, for GM 40+ years. He retired in September of 2017. Andy and Dianne spent their retirement traveling, planning BBQs and enjoyed life with their family. It was the most important thing to him. He enjoyed golfing and bowling, as his favorite activities. He excelled as a wrestler in high school and continued his love of wrestling as a part-time assistant coach for the Rochester Adams wrestling team.
Andy was known as a great man to many, and loved to converse with everyone around him. He brought a sense of fun to the conversation.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Dianne, his children Andrew (Drew) Raftopoulos, Regina (Rae) Young, and Nicole (Nicky) Hassold, his son-in-laws Matthew (Matt) Young and Jacob (Jake) Hassold. Although he is survived by 3 biological children, he has touched the hearts of many of his children's friends, who consider him a father.
Andy is gone, but will always remain a part of our hearts and souls.
We LOVE you.
