Loving Memory of
ANDREW THOMAS SUGGS, SR.
Andrew got that call, and he answered it June 21, 2023. He is now resting in God's arms.
Andrew was born June 10, 1945, in Houston, Mississippi to David Thomas Suggs and Jerri Dean Atkinson Suggs. He attended elementary and high school in Danville, Illinois.
Andrew married Barbara Wright in Charleston, MO, and to that union four children were born. Years later he married Karen Mayor.
Andrew attended the Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church in Paducah, Kentucky, under the leadership of Pastor Edward Ballard. He faithfully served as a deacon and in other areas of the church as long as his health permitted.
Andrew loved his family. He loved fishing and had a great love for fast cars as did his brothers Joe and Robert. Andrew also had a great love for his church, his pastor and church family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, granddaughter, Jamaya; his four brothers, Thomas Allen, David Thomas, Jr., Thomas Franklin and James Paul; his stepdaughter, Matisha Washington; his two sisters, Veronica Michelle Keys and Floraine Suggs; as well as some nieces, nephews and cousins.
Andrew leaves to cherish his loving memories, his son, Andrew Suggs of Charleston, MO, who was by and there by his dad's side faithfully until the end; also, his sons, Frank Washington of New York; Robert Suggs and Andrew Suggs, Jr. of Detroit, MI; his daughters, Michelle Johnson of Shreveport, LA, Angela and Eva Zay Suggs both of Detroit, MI; stepson, Michael Washington of Greenville, IN; his stepdaughters, Kathy Washington and Cyressia Washington both of Charleston, MO; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Other survivors include his sisters, Carla Sue Williams of Carbondale, IL, Dorothy Ann Lillard and Christine Crook of Murphysboro, IL; Anna Jean Pittman, Edna Marie Felix and Shauenta Reed (husband, Ricky Gains) of Danville, IL, Carol J. Atkinson of Elkville, IL, and Lorraine (Norman) Davis of Sikeston, Missouri.
His brothers, Joe Clyde Lipsey of Murphysboro, IL, Robert Earl (Lin) Suggs of Danville, IL, James Dale Suggs of Carbondale, IL, Jerry Lee (Debra) Suggs of Memphis, TN, Terry Lee Suggs and Kerry Lee Suggs of Sikeston, MO.
Andrew is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Special friends include Clinton and Debra Payne and his mom, Shirley, and his friend, Larry.
