Andrew Toth Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Stephens Funeral Home, Inc. - Allentown on Jan. 16, 2026.
Andrew Stephen Toth, Jr., 70, a loving husband, devoted father and proud grandfather, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by wife and children January 14, 2026, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Born July 20, 1955, Andy grew up with a big heart, quick wit and work ethic that never wavered. A graduate of William Allen High School, he began his career in the kitchen at Allentown General Hospital. Over four decades, through dedication, he built a life of service and purpose - retiring from the Cytology Department at Health Network Laboratories where colleagues knew him as reliable and endlessly steady.

Andy's greatest joy, however, was found well beyond any office or lab. He poured his energy into coaching and community - guiding young athletes on the softball fields and wrestling mats of the West End Youth Center and later coaching wrestling for the William Allen freshman team. He believed in firm handshakes, honest effort and telling kids what they needed to hear and not just what they wanted to hear.

A proud member of the Knights of Columbus Golf League, Andy also found plenty of happiness on the golf course. Even while facing illness with grace and grit, he continued to play the game he loved and earned the Knights of Columbus Golf League's 2025 Seventh Flight Championship. He was, as ever, a competitor and a gentleman to the last putt.

When he wasn't working, coaching or golfing, Andy could be found enjoying a good meal at a favorite restaurant, tending to the garden, catching any game that was on, and - most of all - cheering on his grandchildren. Their games, recitals, tournaments, competitions, and every small triumph were his pride and joy.

Andy is survived by his beloved wife, Kim (Weaknecht), of 41 years, brothers, Christopher and Mark Toth, children, Stephanie Hapenovich (William), Briana Hapenovich (Adam), and Jared Toth (Anthony), and treasured grandchildren, Zoey, Willow, Lyla, and Cooper. He is preceded in death by his father, Andrew, Sr., mother, Josephine (Tomko) Toth, and brothers, John and Michael Schlacter.

Those who knew Andy will remember his steady presence, dry humor, loyalty to family and friends, and the way he made ordinary days feel meaningful. He taught by example: show up, work hard, be kind, and be goofy when you can.

Celebration of Life will be held Monday, January 19, 2026, at Longswamp UCC, 200 Clay Rd., Mertztown PA 19539. Visitation will be at 10 AM with service at 11 AM. Arrangements entrusted to HEINTZELMAN – STEPHENS FUNERAL HOME, P. C.

Sending heartfelt sympathy to Kim and family. I first met Andy at age 4 or 5. My Mom was a Cub Scout den mother for my brother´s troop. Meetings were held in our home and like it or not, I was the mascot. Andy and Brother Bill were instantly inseparable. It was like I had two big brothers, not one. Double the trouble, double the teasing over the years. Then we all grew up. It was interesting and enjoyable to hear about the life Andy made. He found a perfect partner in Kim and three wonderful children followed. He was a proud and passionate husband and father and to no one´s surprise, an awesome Grandpa "Grandy." I will miss crossing paths with Andy especially at the Market and Fair. I will forever remember his positivity and strength when he shared updates on his health. Through it all, typical Andy, he never forgot to ask about me and my family. And, he always listened to my answer. Andy walked the talk. He was wise to know what really matters in life. Rest in peace, brother and friend!

Kim & Family, I was saddened to learn of Andy passing. I played with him in the Knights golf league. He was a true gentleman and a great friend. I will miss seeing him every Wednesday but I´ll make sure to look up in the sky and say hello. May he rest in peace
