This man saved my life. I had been through countless doctors over many years and it wasn´t until Dr. Warner became my gastroenterologist that I finally was able to live life fully again. I just found out about his passing and am beyond dismayed. On top of that he was just a great guy to talk to. I am eternally grateful for the care that he provided.

Dr Warner has been my gastroenterologist since 2008. He was the one who finally diagnosed me after several other specialists were unable to. In my 40-plus years of life, he is the best doctor I have ever encountered in any specialty. He is not only intelligent but his personality and ability to know exactly what to say and when to say it set him apart.
I didn't know a lot about his personal life however, reading the stories makes me both happy and sad. I know I will miss him dearly.
Rest in Peace Dr Warner

I am both sad & shocked to receive the news of my gastroenterologist passing, Dr. Warner. He was my doctor for at least 20 years I believe. Since learning this shocking news I now try to think back to my last visit with him. Always believing that when the visit with him was finished, id see him again in due time or few years. If only I knew. I´m devastated. I felt good with him and he knew me and my story. In fact my last memory before my last colonoscopy with him some 2 years ago or so was him saying to me: « you´re a big Guy, Erik » as we talked about the procédure & being a sleep etc... Damn. Wish I couldve Hugged him before leaving my last visit with him. I´m crushed.

Just learned today of Dr. Warner's recent passing while calling to check on scheduling a procedure.
Such a vital, wonderful Doctor and such a great loss to his family and the Lahey community. I loved his choices of music during procedures and when asked once what music I preferred , I deferred to him saying and laughing that I wanted him to be happy. I always felt safe and well cared for with Dr Warner. Sending heartfelt condolences to his beloved family.

Very saddened to hear of Dr. Warner´s passing. I knew Andy through Civil Air Patrol, where he was much admired for his leadership, compassion, humor, and knowledge. Andy was a passionate advocate of data-driven risk management as applied to aviation, drawing on his experience as a physician.

I was so deeply saddened to learn of Dr Warner's passing and wish my most sincere condolences to his family. I was a patient of Dr Warner's for 30 years and I remember when I first met him in a consultation with Dr Nugent. From that point on Dr Warner became my gastroenterologist and I have told people on more than one occasion that I believe that Dr Warner had saved my life. During my visits we would often chat about his golden retrievers and life in general, I looked forward to my visits with him, he was a wonderful physician.
RIP Dr Warner, I will never forget you.

I was utterly shocked today during an appointment I had today at Lahey when I heard of Dr. Warner's passing. I've been seeing him for the past 24 years--ever since my wife and I moved up here from DC. As a retired Air Force officer, Dr. Warner provided me with amazing care longer than any other doctor in my entire life. He was always cheerful and good humored in greeting me meet every year for my annual "inspections" and would always inquire about my wife, 2 kids, dogs, and vacations. Reading through his life story makes me now understand why we such a good patient-doctor relationship: I'm only 3 years older, I met and fell in love with my wife 37 years ago when we were both in-processing into the same Air Force program in Dayton, Ohio, settled in Burlington, MA 24 years ago and had kids who are now adults, and love long trail hikes with our dog.
I will sorely miss him and I humbly extend my sincere condolences to his entire family.

My heart goes out to Dr Warners family. He was my doctor for over 30 years. I remember how people in the hospital referred to him as the most eligible bachelor at the time. He was very kind and caring. I recall, as I was going through a procedure, he was mentoring another doctor. He knew it would be a painful event and he told me to just look at him and squeeze his hand as hard as I could. That was comforting. RIP
My prayers are with you all.

Hi Ann,
I'm not sure if you remember me, I worked in dialysis with you & remember when you & Andy met. He was always so nice, when he popped up to visit you. He was my husband's GI Doc, he has colitis & Andy took great care of him. You & your family are in our thoughts & prayers

I am deeply dismayed by the loss of Dr. Warner. I was one of his first patients at Lahey; in fact, the day I met him I asked him if he was still in high school! (He looked so young.) Over the years he grew to know me, and even though I live about 85 miles away I always considered him "my" gastroenterologist and trusted him implicitly. Once when I came in for my colonoscopy, I was so excited because I was planning to travel to England to fulfill a long-time bucket list dream, to go to London and Liverpool in a sort of pilgrimage to the Beatles. That day in the procedure room he decided to forego his normal music selection and instead played the Beatles! That's the kind of guy he was. He cared deeply about his patients and always tried to make them feel comfortable. I will miss him dearly. My heart goes out to his family and friends.

I was a patient of Dr. Warner´s for over 30 years. He met me in the hospital right before he went on his honeymoon, and we laughed because I was still there when he got back. It was a very rough first ten years and I know I wouldn´t have made it through without him. Through all 30 years the number one thing we always talked about was how much we loved our families. We were both deeply family centered, his wife and his boys were his world. I will keep his family in my prayers every single day, because it is because of your husband and father, I am here. I truly believe that. He was one of the most compassionate, loving, brilliant, and especially kind people I´ve ever known. I will miss him dearly. Thank you for sharing him with all of us for so many years. I will be forever grateful.

As one of Dr. Warner's long-term patients, I am so grateful for his care and concern. For such a young guy, he treated his patients with "old school" sensibilities. I am thinking of him and his family with warmest thoughts and prayers. My hope is that he was aware of how much he was loved.

On numerous occasions, Dr. Warner quite literally saved my wife's life. Along the way, he gave her -- and me -- the sort of life-affirming, spirit-boosting encouragement that cannot be taught in any sort of lecture hall or lyceum. Without his expertise and positivity, there is no way that we would have ever had the possibility (and confidence) to have our son.
While Dr. Warner may be gone, he will forever live on in our family, and, I suspect, the countless families to whom he availed himself.
