Andrzej Michael Zabinski (Andy), a talented violinist, composer, performer, and dedicated music educator, passed away on February 8, 2025, in Atlanta. His passion for music and teaching left a profound impact on the community, inspiring countless students and fellow musicians.
Andy was born at Northside Hospital in Atlanta, Ga on March 21,1972, the beloved son of Andrzej and Mallen (Millard) Zabinski. He was raised in a loving home and embraced the importance of a close family early on in his life. He graduated from St. Pius X High School and continued his education with advanced music degrees from Vanderbilt University and the Cleveland Institute of Music.
Not only a gifted performer, but Andy was also a natural teacher as well. Whether at a school as a staff instructor or through private lessons, he mentored young musicians, fostering their love for music and helping them develop their skills.
Known primarily as a violinist, Andy could pick up most any musical instrument and play it with skill. He was at home with the classics, but drew tremendous pleasure at playing bluegrass and rock and roll too. Andy could talk at length about music theory, the genius of Mozart, Beethoven, and Bach, and then turn around and talk about his love for Bruce Springsteen, U2, and REM. Andy played with the Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra for many years, and later was able to combine his love of classical and modern music, playing violin live on stage with Led Zeppelin and Taylor Swift. Andy also had a great love of movies, especially anything Star Wars or Indiana Jones, and he enjoyed cooking for the family.
In addition to his parents, Andy is survived by his sister Kasia Zabinski Martin, brother-in-law Robert Martin, nephew Devin Martin, and niece Irena Martin. He also is survived by many cherished uncles, aunts, cousins and "mini-cousins."
A reception will be held on Thursday, February 13 at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus,
353 Peachtree St NE, Atlanta, GA 30308 at 11:30am followed by a funeral mass at 1:00pm. Burial will be at Honey Creek Woodlands in Conyers following the mass.

We at Orchestra Kentucky are devastated by the news of Andy´s passing. I have so many wonderful memories of him playing in the orchestra´s first violin section. He always played with such joy, whether it was Beethoven or the Beatles. Students at the string academy loved him.

May God comfort those he left behind with the mark he left on Bowling Green and so many other places. We are all better for having known him.

To the Zabinski Family:
I want to send my deepest condolences to you all. As a violinist, I performed with him in orchestras in Alabama and Georgia. Andy was a wonderful violinist and had a great sense of humor. I´ll never forget the time when he asked the orchestra personnel manager for an extra music stand so he can place his orchestra score. He was not conducting, just performing in the violin section and he wanted to learn the music better while the conductor rehearsed other music sections. In my twenty-three years of professional orchestra performance, I have never seen someone that devoted to their craft. Andy was a wonderful example of how to be a great orchestra colleague and a friend.

So sorry to learn of Andy´s death. He was such a talented young man. He always made Mass more special with his music. Loved his creativity with his email address. My prayers are with Andrzej, Mallen, Kasia and family. He will be missed.
