To my favorite Yankee, insurance guru, and 40 year friend.....I have never known a friendlier, more compassionate, and generous person. To say you will be missed by all who knew him is vast understatement. May God bless him and all his family members (of whom he was exceedingly proud and bragged about all the time) in this very trying time.. Simply put...Andy, you were the best!! A childhood friend sent me a note about Andy's passing. I had the pleasure of meeting Andy and his family when I was only 16 years old. He had been traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers and immediately become my favorite Dodger. I learned that he was renting a house just two blocks from my home in San Marino, so I bashfully showed up at his front door and introduced myself. To say we hit it off is an understatement, as I occasionally babysat for the Koscos, and Andy once gave me a tour of the Dodgers clubhouse. I must've been beaming for at least a week after that wonderful experience. It was a sad day for me when Andy was traded to the Milwaukee Brewers after just two years, though I did follow his career until he retired. I am now 73 years old - but I still remember how Andy was a complete class act, one of the friendliest and genuine persons you would ever want to know, and how Cathy was equally wonderful. Not surprised at all to read how he returned to his roots and became a successful businessman and community fixture in his hometown. I should note that this is the first, and possibly the last, time I've ever written an "in memoriam" message like this, but nostalgia - and yes, a twinge of sadness - compelled me to do so. My heartfelt sympathies to Cathy and the rest of the Kosco family.
Respectfully,
Andy Bergh

Andy and I first met over 50 years ago when we had dinner together with our wives at Cherry's Top of the Mall. We've been friends since, meeting often for lunch and playing golf whenever we could. He was a great athlete and an even better person and friend. He will be missed.
