Stella B. Kosco, of Rostraver Township, died Wednesday, August 14, 2024. Born in Johnstown on June 10, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Mary (Kogut) Rycyk.
Stella attended the University of Pittsburgh and California University of PA for her degree in Nursing. She did her graduate studies at the University of Pennsylvania for her School Nurse Practitioner certification. She was also the Department Head of Nursing at BVA, where she retired in 2003.
Stella was the founder of the BVA Medical Interest Club and a state member of SADD. Stella was active in her professional organizations and held offices in BVA Educational Association, Westmoreland County School Nurse Association, as well as PSEA Department of Public School Association. She was an active member of the Church of St. Anne, where she was a member of the Healthcare Ministry and the Confraternity of Christian Mothers.
Stella and John's greatest achievement was their children: John, Jenny and Pam.
She is survived by her children, John A. (Sharon) Kosco of Virginia, Jennifer (Brad) Martin of Rostraver Township and Dr. Pamela (Frank) Ginex of New York; grandchildren, Jacob (Phaedra) Martin, Joshua Martin (Paige Cole), Sydney Kosco, Courtney Kosco, Nicholas Ginex, Joseph Ginex, Alex Ginex and William Ginex; brother, Stanley (Margaret) Rycyk; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John, to whom she was married for 52 years; and sisters, Catherine Helen Elko and Mary Jane Tokarz.

Family and friends are asked to meet on Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Church of St. Anne, 1870 Rostraver Road, Rostraver Township for a Funeral Mass in honor of Stella B. Kosco with Rev. Roselo Melloria presiding. Interment will follow in West Newton Cemetery.
