Gary M. Hawkins

Gary Michael "Mike" Hawkins, affectionately known as "Mike," passed away on February 2, 2026, at the age of 59 in York, Pennsylvania. He was born in York, Pennsylvania, and spent much of his life in the community he called home.

Gary was preceded in death by his mother, Bonita Maxzine Hawkins, and his father, Ervin Moultrey. He was also preceded in death by his siblings Deanna Teal, Jefferey Teal, and Karen Hawkins.

He is survived by his loving children: Alisha Hawkins, Delvon Hawkins, Sienna Clinton, Trevon Clinton, and Dominique Hobel. He also leaves behind two cherished grandchildren, Naomi Hawkins and Jaliyah Hawkins-Hill. Gary is survived by his siblings: Cheryl Dewberry, James Teal, Jerry Teal, Kevin Hawkins, Terry Hawkins, Anthony Hawkins, Carol "Boots" Moultrey, Bridgette Moultrey, Yolanda Moultrey, Michelle Sexton, and Melanie Barton Sexton.

Gary was well known for his love and talent for basketball. He was an exceptional player and was accepted on a basketball scholarship to the University of Pittsburgh, which he attended for a short time before welcoming his first daughter. Basketball remained one of his lifelong passions.

One of Gary's proudest roles in life was being the full-time caretaker of his youngest son, Dominique. He embraced fatherhood fully and found great joy in raising his son and spending time with his family.

Gary will be remembered for his love of family, his dedication as a father, and the passion he carried for the game of basketball. His memory will live on through his children, grandchildren, and all who knew and loved him.
