John Anthony Portera passed away Monday February 10, 2025 at the age of 48. He was born May 11, 1976 to Rachel Ray and the late Charles Anthony Portera. Andy was the explorer of the family. From a young age, he loved to study maps. As an adult he was able to travel and enjoy all the United States had to offer by working for Royal Trucking.

He was a charmer. He never met a stranger, making everyone he came in contact with crack a smile. He was the ultimate girl Dad. From the time he became a father, he protected, loved, and taught his girls about life and the importance of family.

He was an avid bulldog fan from a young age and enjoyed watching them play every sport, which led him to get his daughters involved in softball. You could find him on a softball field, fishing pond, or the beach and know he was at peace.

Funeral Services will be held at 3 PM Wednesday February 12, 2025 at Robinson Funeral Home with Rev. Ben Yarber officiating. Visitation will be 2-3 PM on Wednesday at Robinson funeral Home. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Jimmy Hargrove, Matt Bryan, Payne Bryan, Jacob Vowell, Dylan Rimmer, Jeremy Klutts, Josh Sinko, Jason Hargrove.

He is survived by his daughters, Hannah Vowell (Jacob), Ella Rose Portera, Sarah Isabella Portera; his mother and step father, Rachel and Randy Williams; sisters, Sarah Bryan (Matt), Valerie Hargrove (Jimmy); 2 grandchildren, Mary Louise Vowell, and Everly Vowell.

He was preceded in death by his father; his daughter, Audrey Ray Portera; and Loni Portera.

Memorials can be made to Bryan Public Library 436 Commerce St. West Point, MS 39773.
