Andy C. Walton, Jr. was born on May 19, 1947. He was the oldest of four children and grew up in Columbiana, Alabama. After dropping out of high school he joined the US Army and was quickly deployed to Vietnam, serving two tours. There he was a member of the 35th Engineers creating life long bonds with an amazing band of brothers. Upon his return home he married the love of his life, Linda Allinder Walton, whom he had met on a blind date after being set up by his first cousin and close mutual friend just prior to deployment. He worked many jobs in many different fields before joining the Fairfield Fire Department where he would continue to work for 32 years earning his retirement. While working full time (sometimes two or three jobs at a time) and raising two sons, Kevin and Lee, he would complete his GED, graduate Phi Theta Kappa from Jefferson State and earn a degree from UAB. Later in life, Andy became very involved in different ministries including the Baptist Church at Lay Lake as a founding member, Bible teacher and mentor to young men. He especially enjoyed mentoring men battling drug and alcohol addiction. He was a chaplain with Shelby Baptist Association's Disaster Relief and Christmas Gift Shop for many years. He adored his grandchildren and great grandchildren and loved to spend time with them.
Andy passed from this life on April 22, 2025 at the age of 77. He is preceded in death by his parents Andy C. Walton, Sr. And Lexie Horton Walton, as well as his sister Sharon Walton. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Linda, sons Kevin Walton (Stephanie), Lee Walton (Stacy), grandchildren Andrea Edwards (Daniel), Jennifer Walton (Emmilee), Wesley Walton, Seth Walton, Jacob Walton (Beth), Abbey Walton.
