SOUTHBRIDGE: Angel A. Zayas (Tono), 59, of Southbridge passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at UMass Memorial Health Harrington on August 17, 2023.
Tono was born on August 26, 1963, in Aibonito Puerto Rico to Benita Rolon and the late Angel Miguel Zayas.
Tono was a very giving person, whenever you called him, he was there, and he would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. He was an extremely hard worker and worked as a machine operator for years at the Community Newspaper in Auburn. Tono loved handball, working on cars and going fishing. He loved watching movies, especially action and enjoyed playing video games. Above all, he loved spending time with his family and going to family parties.
He will be greatly missed by his partner Maria Lopez and his four children, Michael Zayas and his wife Gloria of New York, Tasha Zayas of New York, Marissa Zayas and her partner Karyn of Southbridge, and Jordan Zayas of Boston. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Michael Figueroa, Star Zayas, Galaxy Zayas, and Coda Zayas. His siblings, Angel M. and Lucy Zayas of Florida, Carmen I. Zayas of New York, Angel L. Zayas of Southbridge, Carmen D. Diaz and her husband David Roldan of Southbridge, Luz M. Rosario of New York, and Maribel Rosa of Southbridge, Several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins and friends.
Calling hours will be held Thursday August 24, 2023, from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the Belanger-Bullard Funeral Home, 51 Marcy Street Southbridge MA.
A Funeral Service will be held Friday August 25, 2023, at St. Joseph Church, 10 H Putnam Rd Extension, Charlton, MA 01507 at 10:00 A.M. with burial to Follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
