Angela Renee Burt "Angie"
January 29, 1970 – April 30, 2024
Angie Burt, age 54, passed away on April 30 under the care of Hospice Austin. She was born in Houston, Texas to parents Francis Hilton and Shirley Ann Burt who preceded her in death. She was a resident of
Georgetown, Texas.
Angie was a graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University, class of 1992 and a member of Epsilon eta Chapter of Alpha Chi Omega Fraternity. She had a long career in the hospitality industry in
San Antonio, Texas. I don't know if she liked it, but she enjoyed the friendships she made along the way.
She was a bright light to everyone she met and always left a kind impression on people, she prided herself on being the best dog Mom to her beloved pet Cinnamon, part Dachshund, part Chihuahua, a 14-year-old rescue who died last year. She was a fun aunt to her nephews, a pain in the butt to her sister but well loved by her, a lover of animals and people, a great listener, empathetic and generous. She was a loyal and honest friend and loved by all who knew her.
Angie loved gardening. Tending to her flowers and plants brought her so much joy. Her favorite flowers were Stargazer Lilys. She loved fragrances and fresh scents and always had candles or atomizers going in her home. It always smelled so good in there! She liked everything neat and organized and loved fashion. She enjoyed occasional baking and cooking and could grill a mean rack of ribs.
Angie loved spending time at the Coast. She loved the beach, sunbathing and saltwater fishing. She could cast a reel with the best fishing guides despite her small size.
She was chronically ill for the last 15 years of her life. She struggled, suffered, but never gave up on living. Her body failed her in the end, but she was not afraid. She loved God and lived a Christian life. She knew if she didn't, her struggle would end in failure and defeat, instead she was forgiven for her sins and given eternal life. She will be the best kind of Angel because of all that she went through on earth.
Angie was survived by her brother Kerry Burt of Houston, Texas, sister Cheryl Cotton Meyer and husband Bill of
Georgetown, Texas, nephews Taylor Cotton and his fiancé Paige Wilkerson of
Celina, Texas, Travis Cotton and wife Alena and great niece Araceli of
San Antonio, Texas and loving cousins, longtime friends and many family pets.
A private Celebration of Life for family and close friends will be held at Pappadeaux's Seafood Kitchen
Houston, TX on Saturday, May 18th at 4:00 Downtown/Avenida, Private Rooms Bayou & French Quarter.
Her final wishes were to be scattered at sea in Port Aransas, some of her fondest memories and happiest times were spent there. A scattering of ashes ceremony date TBD.
Gone Fishing
I've finished life's chores assigned to me.
So put me on a boat headed out to sea.
Where every day is a day to fish,
To fill your heart with every wish.
Don't worry, or feel sad or me,
I'm fishin' with the Master of the sea.
We will miss each other for a while,
But you will come and bring your smile.
That won't be long, you will see,
Till we're together you and me.
To all of those that think of me,
Be happy as I go out to sea.
If others wonder, why I'm missin'
Just tell 'em I've gone fishin'.
