Angela Renee Efken

Angela Renee Efken, age 49, passed away November 8, 2023, at Downs Health and Rehab in Downs, KS. She was born September 19, 1974, in Beloit, KS to Melvin and Cynthia (Belles) Efken of Tipton, KS. Angela grew up on the farm southwest of Tipton, KS with one brother and two sisters. She graduated from Tipton Elementary School and then Osborne High School, Osborne, KS with the class of 1993. She attended Emporia State University. She decided to become a nurse and graduated from KAW Area Technical School, Topeka, KS as a LPN. She lived and worked as an LPN in Topeka. She married Patrick Siwy on October 27, 2006. They made their home in Topeka for several years then moved to Fort Worth, TX. They later divorced, and Angela stayed in Fort Worth. She worked different jobs as an LPN over the years. She often said she loved helping people. She started working for Hospice and she realized being a Hospice nurse is what she wanted to do. She moved to Binghamton, NY and was later diagnosed with breast cancer. She worked in Home Health while she was fighting cancer. When she could no longer work, she came back to her parents' farm and continued fighting cancer and helping on the farm with what she could do. She always had a smile for everyone and touched the lives of so many people through her nursing career and other jobs along the way. She could brighten up someone's day with just her smile and with the twinkle in her eyes they knew her smile was genuine.
Survivors include her parents Melvin and Cynthia Efken of Tipton, KS; sisters Selena Efken and children Rachel, Rebekah "Forest", Elisabeth and Joseph of Manhattan, KS and Felicia Ruffu (Joshua) of Bedford, TX and brother Jason (Meredith) and children Jessamyn and Catrin of Austin, TX.
The family requests memorial contributions be given to Cancer Research and to support Veteran's and can be sent in care of the mortuary.
